: XM Issues? Anyone else?

Ok, I fully understand the tech, I have Sirius/XM in two other vehicles for over 7 years. (so I know the good and the bad)

However, these are some of the issues I'm having with my 2010 LS.

1. Sunny Day / No Obstruction - Constant Cutting in and out of XM radio reception.

2. Sunny Day / No Obstruction - Mid Dial channels work perfect ~48, however low channels 1-20 and high channels 130 and above... NO RECEPTION. (This is the odd one... you can be listening to Octane with no issues, then switch to ESPN.... and get dead air, weird)

3. On some Overcast/Rain days it works perfect, others all it does is cut in and out.

I can't be the only one... So has anyone else experienced these issues? Has anyone had any luck with resolutions?

Thanks in advance!

Love Sirius/XM.... absolutely HATE it in my 2010 Malibu! (right now)

Somethings not right. Mine works great, even if I go under a bridge it usually won't cut out. I can even pull into my garage and usually get a signal.

When you say "cut in and out", for how long?

I wouldnt think anything is wrong but I guess you never know - I believe its how the satellite's are positioned for the time of day and the time of year. Mine cuts out at the exact same spot every day on my commute. It gets better in the the winter as I believe where I live I am in a better angle to the satellites.

My wife 08 Honda Pilot cuts out in the same spots my Malibu does - albeit not as long as my car - but it still cuts out.

I have a Roady in my Silverado and it cuts out same spots as well.

It actually pisses me off - as most of the time its during one of Mad Dogs(144) rants - never during the comercials .. LOL.

Same here. I never have a problem with XM Reception in the Malibu. It's absolutely excellent, no matter what station I'm tuned into. As a matter of fact, you should get better reception with XM over regular FM or AM stations since the satellite signal has a very broad range.

I would have you car checked by the dealer. Could be an antenna problem or a problem with the XM Receiver. What you're describing is definitely not the norm.

I have had problems with power lines alone the highway causing static with my XM.

There is one spot that is about a mile or two long over on I-64 just east of Louisville (between I-264 and I-265) where XM drops out but my Sirius still works. Not sure why, but there's the evidence. (I no longer have XM, btw.)

Satellite signals can be blocked. I have this problem with my TV Satellite System (Directv) during a heavy thunderstorm. I will get no signal at all until the storm passes. Directv acknowledges this. With XM, the most drop out I have every experienced was a second or two in the exact same location. I have never had extended loss of signals.

Yes, Richard is right.

I had Siri for 4 years when it first came out and heard these probs way back then.
Guess they are still happening.

It either happens when you're under a canopy of trees, by a mountain or it could
be the satellite positioning and like Richard said, often in a storm.

In your case it sounds like satellite positioning but call Siri and tell them
where you are. They will help you.

I live on a mountain so there's a lot of trees around here and it's always cutting
out.

I will discontinue when the trial period expires and use my iPOD.

A little less talk and a lot more action!
