1. Every now and then when I go to start the car it doesnt fully turn over but then I try again seconds later and it starts just fine, should I be concerned?

2. While driving when I have to let off the gas pedal and then get back on it, the car hesitates, the engine growls and then the car lurches forward sometimes harsher than others, what do you guys think is going on??

3. Today I went to move the car from one driveway to the other to wash it the orange ABS light came on, chimed. I shut it off, restarted it was still on but about 20 mins later after I got done washing the car it was no longer on, I went down the road and still nothing. Maybe dirt on the sensor??

Without knowing the engine size or maintenance history it's a little harder to help you but here's a first blush.

1a. Have your battery and alternator checked for free at an auto parts store. If you're not sure you trust them, go to another and see if they get the same result.

1b. Check your battery cables for loose connections at the battery, grounds (chassis & engine), and starter. Tighten if needed.

1c. Using a safe method (for you and your car) test the starter solenoid to see if it's still able to make the starter run.

1d. Check the starter by removing it and taking it to an auto parts store.

2a. Automatic trannies have a free-wheeling device that may make it feel like it's slamming when you're moving and then accelerate after coasting. Not saying that's what's going on but it's a cheap possibility - cheap because it means there's probably nothing wrong if that's all it's doing.

2b. How many miles? Are your air & fuel filters clean? Is your intake clean? Are your injectors clean? Do you use top tier gas? (That's gas from leading retailers like Chevron, Shell, Mobil, BP that has additives to clean your fuel system or to help it stay clean.)

2c. Check for broken, cracked, disconnected vacuum hoses.

3. ABS gets dirty and still works. If the sensor has failed there'll be a code. Other members are more knowledgeable than me so I'll let them suggest things and learn while they do.

Post what you discover so we can learn, too.

It's a 3.5 V6, 80,000 miles. I just got it in April but the guy I bought it from had it sitting in his driveway for at least 3 months. I had a friend of mine who's a mechanic look it over quickly, he says the starter could be getting bad. The throttle hesitation he thinks is clogged injectors or a dirty fuel filter and the last one he thinks was just an electrical glitch...

This is common on the 97-03 Malibu's and I have this issue too every once in a while, I wouldn't worry about it even though you have a newer one.

Thanks, got a new issue I forgot to mention, sometimes while driving the engine/trans starts to shudder as if it's starving for fuel or switching back and forth between 2 gears, the rpms spike up and down between 1200-2500 while it's acting up. I'm starting to get paranoid, it's my first car and I don't want to have to spend a fortune into it. Any ideas, people with similar experiences??

Hmm... I'm thinking something electrical.
