Any reason why you decided to take the Malibu/LTZ badges off?

I saw someone had done that at the grocery store, and you could see the razor marks where they got the badges off. ::::smacks head::::

Looks clean.

I HATE stickers on paint. I did that with my 2002 Z-71 LT the day after I brought it home. I used braided fishing line to saw through the moulding tape, and the Z-71 peeled right off with a little help from a hair dryer.

Someone asked me how I got a W/T with leather and painted fender flares. At that point, I knew that I had accomplished exactly what I was trying to. I wanted an LT that would not be noticed.

Looks nice and clean, did you use the hair dryer and fishing line trick to do it?

cerbomark

a little fishing line, heat and some glue remover will do the trick.

I did this about a month ago. So many people stop and ask you what kind of car that is... I think it looks much cleaner without them.

FYI, a hairdryer to warm up the adhesive goes a long way.

Heat, either by sunlight or a hairdryer, and some fishing line to "saw" behind the emblems. This won't scratch anything. Then when off, some WD40, Goo Gone, or polish to remove any leftover glue remnants.

Clean look, did the same to mine. The letters come off very easily, just don't rush it or bend one back - would scratch the finish. I could almost twist mine off, very easy. Then a little goof off and just a bowtie in the middle now. Clean, very clean.:)

I am considering taking the "LS" and GM emblems off all together. I would like to get the MALIBU taken off of the back trunk and have MALIBU placed on each side of the car like the GM emblems are.

That'll cost me a fair amount, I am sure, though. Maybe if I knew what kind of glue they used, I could order just another set that says "MALIBU" and then do it myself? Anyone know what would be best for this application?

As to the GM emblems, I can twist them right now but have not until I get some Goo Gone.

From past experiences when you oder new emblems or logos from GM they come with adhesive already, just gotta peel back the paper and apply to car.

Pulled off the GM logos on the front doors this morning and it cleaned up the looks, with the side turn signals it looked too busy, with all the emblems off it's a lot easier to wash and wax the car, the sharp corners on the GM logo kept tearing up my drying towels :D

Truitt

Alright, so I would have to order two sets of the MALIBU emblem to also get the adhesive. I'd rather pay a little more like that then fight with an aftermarket glue to transfer the existing one on my trunk to my door panel. I will get pics up once it is warm enough for me to go at it :D

EDIT: No one would happen to know the parts number to the MALIBU lettering on our trunks, would yea?

I made this mock-up to try out a repositioning of the Malibu out back....Question to those that have debadged:Is the logo reusable after you remove it or do you have to get another?http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq134/MalContent2/1228899950.jpg

That looks pretty good there.
As far as being able to reuse it, you can, but it will take some time with cutting new 3M tape to that shape. If you are asking if you can just reapply them after taking them off, then that one is a No. Sorry.

I figured you'd have to use some new adhesive.I just wondered if the letters would be mangled.....Would you know. by any chance, the price on a new name emblem?

Forget the last question....I just looked on GM's parts page and it says $6.81._Not too bad.

I actually really like that setup maliblu. It still uses the block letters, which I like, but puts them in a better location than from the factory. Plus you get rid of those stupid LS, LT, or LTZ letters.

Has anyone debadged their trunks that have colormatched bowties? I just got got mine colormatched and I was wondering what the trunk would look like debadged. The colormatch gives the bowtie a stealthier look. If anyone has can you post pictures? Thanks

I would like to see a photo of your color matched bow tie. Is it a decal and where did you get them? I have debadged all the markings on ours except the bowties. I had a guy at the gas pumps ask me what kind of car it was, that he liked it. Looking for a name and none to be seen!

I will post some photos tomorrow. It is not a decal. The dealer painted the bowties the same color as the vehicle, leaving only the chrome outline.

I got in touch with Ryan and his company Grafxwerks and he is going to check into making some bowties. I hooked him up with the link about it so he could see who recommended he be contacted. I forgot who it was, but thanks.

I plan on doing this very soon! I use a blow dryer and some dental floss, then goo-gone for the remaining adhesive.

Also have to replace the rear chrome plate frame with the dealer name on it!!

Well, I defiantly need to do something with the badges. Thanks for the pic maliblu, that does look the same as mine...minus the dual exhaust. :) I cant decided if I like it like this...or the way you set it up earlier in this post, with the "Malibu" emblem in the middle. It does give the bowties a much stealthier look.

A couple of pics with a dirty car and bad lighting...

I think that looks sharp! My wife is on the fence...but its "my" car. I'll let you know the final outcome. I did find new "MALIBU" emblems on a GM parts site for like $5.45...so its not a big deal either way. I could stick it on with some masking tape just to see what I think...decisions...decisions...

Mal'Content...I tried every possible location.Bottom/center has a "sagging" effect due to it's closeness to license plate....Putting the nameplate just below the bowtie,I feel, aside from being better-balanced visually, brings together the name "Chevy Malibu".

I took of the GM emblems and everything looks good. Then I started on the back...

Rewind...I had the lower part of my trunk repainted when I purchased the car, as there were runs in the paint. I have a feeling that the dealership replaced the LT, and the Malibu emblems because There was a dealer sticker that was higher up...above the Malibu emblem, that was never replaced after the repaint.

Forward to today. I took of the LT emblem the same way as the GM ones. There is an outline of the emblem in the clear coat. I can see it and feel it when I run my finger across it. Now I am scared to remove the Malibu emblem. I bet the dealer replaced the emblems before the clear coat was set, figuring it didn't matter anyways. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Will a clay bar and polish clear this up...or will I need a body shop to touch it up?

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Some light wet sanding and a couple blasts of clear should take care of it....Nothing too costly.Though I would think the guys who did the repaint ought to do it right, free of charge.

I took mine off today... it was 53 degrees out and I dont think I needed the hair drier, but it helped. Some fishing line did the trick and then a little WD40 and good as new... Im tempted to make my own badge out of chrome letters and 3m tape though. I never realized how easy it was and they were just stuck on like that.

I also swapped out air filters and oil filters to K&N and I did the chrome pillars which looks nice with tinted windows. Waiting for the chrome door handles on Monday and Im done for a while... all the rest of my mods are going to be pricey and I cant justify it right now. I already went too far.

Hello all,
Brand new to this forum and a proud owner of the Malibu. Mines is a 08 Black Granite Metallic LTZ. I love it. The pics of your de-badged rides look sweet. Thinking bout doing it to mine. But what I really want to take off first is the dealer sticker. It's one of those vinyl type ones and it's yellow so it really stands out on black. Anyone try taking these dealer labels off? If yes, how? Thanks guys.
