Driving home from work I reach a light where I am intending to turn right. I make the turn and then press the gas and the car is not accelerating. I pressed the gas multiple times but nothing. I luckily coasted into a nearby park and ride and turned the car off and called my fiance. The car will not start, the check engine light is NOW on (was not before when I was driving), and when I was experiencing the lack of acceleration after trying to push the pedal I still had all my dash functions so I had plenty of gas. I am just stumped as to what it could be. We've had the car just over 2 months now. Has anyone experienced this?

Oh and we can't have onstar diagnose it because the engine has to be running. The tow truck guy said this was his 3rd malibu this month he's had to tow. Ohhh please tell me it's just a minor issue!:(

I hope its minor too, hard to say what it can be.

If OnStar tried and failed, then it's probably a control module. Hard failures like this should be actually easier to fix than intermittent ones. Good luck.

I would recommend taking the vehicle into your local dealership to be diagnosed. They should be able to assist you further and have a plan for addressing the issue. If you have further questions, feel free to contact me by email. Thank you.

Diagnosis: Bad fuel pump. Not sure if it's faulty from manufacturer or bad gas (H2O in gas?).....

Oh...oh.....bad gas, really? Hard to believe that here in the states.

Not so hard for me. I've had water in gas a couple of times. Thankfully I wasn't sidelined but it ran like garbage for quite a while. Not on this car, tho. Thankful for that as well!
