I have two threads on my diy site about breaking my passenger window. the new boston acoustics 6.5 inch speaker was too deep and the passenger window broke when fully opened. check links

Yes I have 2 boston ascoustic 6.5 in the front doors and a pair of boston acoustics 6 by 9's in the rear deck with the stock head unit. I also put a pair of low cost tweeters in the pillars. would have about 250 until I broke the window!

No amp to boost power?
I used the boston acoustics because they are very sensitive the front door 6.5 inch are 92db see link. it makes them a good speaker if you want to leave the factory head unit in. This chevy needs a mdf-spacer or you will break the window

I also used the boston acoustics s95 6 by 9 inch in the rear deck see link they are also 92db sensitive. they needed to be ground down 1 /10 of an inch to fit.

This car is the low end model the factory head has a slot for 1 cd and a jack for an Ipod. The speakers i used and the entire job was under 250 until I popped the window. It sounds really good. But remember this will not get deep bass. Nice clear crisp sound with okay bass.
In crawling around in the trunk and looking for ways to soundproof it some more I found a fuse box I think I can add an amp for a sub if I want to. I have a nice hi end mb quart 8 inch sub That might work pretty good. That will wait for the spring.

Nice to know about the additional fuse panel you found. I'm curious to know if that's what it's there for. I wouldn't mind having a bass canon in the trunk.
