Anyone ever had to change the transmission side cover gasket? If so,
any advice?

No, never had the pleasure but I think the whole driver side suspension have to be disassembled first. You may want get it properly diagnosed. It'd be a shame to go through all that trouble and then find out the leak was from elsewhere.
