Hey guys,

im relativly new here to the forum and have a few problems ide like to share.

-The car sputters/stutters around 2000rpm going uphills until i give it some gas and downshift.

-When i hit around 4k rpm the car does the same sputtering/stuttering, almost like a hesitation before it catches and goes, then continues to do it all the way to 6krpm.

-Also at highway speeds of 75+ my steering wheel gets a vibration back and forth, the car doesnt feel like its shaking much just the wheel. Could this be my tires?

I just replaced the plugs and wires less then 1000 miles ago.

Ive read around and seen problems like this before but never answers,

I love the car but im afraid to lay into it with all of this sputtering going on.

Thanks in advance :)

The "sputtering/stuttering" could be something gonig on in the transaxle, like the TCC failing to release. The transaxle is electronically controlled by the PCM and thus you may want to get it scanned. Also, weird things can happen when the ATF level gets too low.

The steering wheel shaking is probably tires. Maybe one of the balancing weights fell off recently? Try rotating the tires front to back.

Do you think it would be ok to perform a tranny flush?

what's the odometer look like? I'm of the opinion that it never hurts to change the fluid but I've heard otherwise on this forum. In any case, chances are probably slim that it's going to do anything for the driveability concern.

Just turned it over to 93,000 mi. Could this be a coil problem? what are the ohm testing specs for the factory coils?

It doenst throw any codes at all even when its doing the stuttering.

The resistances are 0.50–0.90 ohms on the primary terminals and 5k–8k ohms, on the secondary. There're codes that do not light the malfunction indicator. When you say there're no codes, have you actually had it scanned?

Ok, i just went out and tested all three, the readings were as follows, 5.4, 5.39,5.37. Those sound about normal dont they?

If the coils arent the problem what else could be causing this issue?

I understand most DIYers lack the hardware (scanner/scope, pressure gauges, vacuum pumps, etc.), not to mention the training and experience, to tackle the problem. Sometimes it's best to take it to a shop and get it diagnosed/fixed properly. It's possible that the current problem will soon blossom into something nasty and expensive. Good luck.
