Is there any headlight 3 seconds delay switch I can install on my HID lights. when I turn my car on the lights flicker during the process and I'm afraid it might damage the ballast on the headlights.

I don't have HIDs but there are a number of members on here who do. If you don't modify it your HIDs will die a premature death.

Check with AutoZone, NAPA, Advance, O'Reilly's, etc. to see if they have something like that, or try Radio Shack. You may have to get a little inventive.

With a little more invention you can make one. You can use a 2200mfd capacitor on the coil of a relay. The cap's leads go to each coil terminal. Then you ground the (-) end and give (+) to the other. When you remove the (+) the cap will retain enough charge for a couple seconds, depending on coil resistance and draw, and then release the relay back to resting. To get a longer hold-in use more capacitance. If you put 2 caps on it, put both (+) leads together and both (-) leads together. That puts them in parallel and increases the amperage available. If you were to put them in series the voltage would increase. All that would do is just hold it harder but not longer. (If that's even possible!)

You can also Google DEI and get their adjustable timed relay. It can go from about 2-90 seconds. I think the part number is DEI528T. To get the number for sure, click on the link in my sig for the remote windows mod. It's in the parts list and the comments.

That sounds complicated as can be.

Just go under the hood and pull the Daytime running light (DRL) fuse. They flicker only in the day if you havent noticed because they are just getting by with the voltage they are being given. Your bulb and ballast life is going to be extremely short, like a few weeks kind of short if you let them continue to stutter every time they kick on.

I like the reply that DrivenDaily has about the timed relays. I don't like the point about removing any fuses out of my car, but it's good idea for someone else. I like my daylights to stay on. I just needed something like that 2 seconds of delay to protect my ballast and bulbs when I start my car. I ordered the relays through ebay already. Thank you for helping me:)
