I've been nurtured by the great state of NY and it's DMV. My license is gone and will stay that way for awhile, prob. at least a year maybe two. I've considered one last act of defiance and drive anyway. But last time I did that they got a little upset with me, and I was lucky to get away with it for 3 years. Anyway I've washed the Bu and put it in the garage and I really hope the car doesn't go to hell from not being driven.

Any tips on how to store a car for a long period, so things still work when I'm able to drive it again?

Sorry to hear of the misfortune.

I would put a battery maintainer on it to keep the battery properly charged, start the vehicle every so often and bring it up to operating temp for a while, and add a bottle of sta-bil or equivalent fuel stabilizer to the gas. Also, it may be a good idea to change the oil before parking it. Putting the car up on jack stands to avoid flat spots is good to do too. If there is any issues with mice in you garage place some moth balls around the garage and put some steel wool in the exhaust tips to deter rodents.

Sorry to hear that! Another thing you could use to help keep away any mice is Dryer Sheets! Spread them throughout your car! This is a helpful tip even for campers and makes your Car or Camper smell good at the same time!

Good Luck!

I'm curious. What do the dryer sheets do?

Or you can get a friend to take you for a ride every couple of weeks. Keeps everything lubricated and charged up.

Sorry to hear you're on foot. Care to share what happened? Your option.

I was at the bowling ally in my town with my cousin, she had reserved two lanes for her B-day, we all bowled for 2 hrs, I had consumed 3 drinks and some chilly fries, they were leaving to go to the bar at 12am, I passed and told her I was going home.

I have a valentine 1 radar detector, as soon as I pulled out of the parking lot the local police officer was behind me with his radar on. He followed me for aprox. 1.5 miles, then decided to light me up when I was 4 houses away from mine. This was Saturday Feb 27 @ 12:07am and their was about 3-4" of unplowed snow on the road. His reason for stopping me was I failed to stay right.

For the record, it was a 1 lane road and in Canajoharie NY their isn't any lines on the roads even if I wasn't in the middle of a snow storm and you could see the pavement.

But I have a better chance proving the earth is flat than I do proving the officer made an illegal stop, as it would be my word against his, and I'm well aware who's side the judge will favor.

Any way I was charged with a DWI.

I have learned this from a RV dealer and some that camp! Mice don’t like the scent of the dryer sheets! It won’t prevent them from coming in but they will leave because of the scent of the dryer sheets. I should have mentioned this but make sure when you do this to spread a lot of the dryer sheets and try to use good dryer sheets like Bounce or some top brand name! “You want the scent to be strong” a generic might get cheap on providing a stronger scent!

I have used them in a pop-up camper and a travel trailer, putting them under and on top of the mattress an had spread them throughout the entire camper including in my storage compartments and it did work, never had any mice problems! My In-Laws also do this in thier park home in a campground! The more the dryer sheets you spread around, the more help/chances that the mice will not stick around and leave!

You could try putting the car on jack stands too to avoid the tires from going flat.

Thanks, Chevyguy8893 mentioned that too. I took off the good rubber and put on the OEM all season's, that way I can still pull it out of the garage if I need to. I had to adjust the tire pressure in one of the wheels so are only once. As far as flat spots go, I can care less about those. I have a summer set, and winter set of rubber for the Bu. Never really been a fan of all season tires. So as long as the rims don't hit the concrete those tires are doing what I want them to.
