GM and OnStar announced the following today: Unfortunately the 2010 Malibu is not on the list

TO: ALL CHEVROLET, BUICK, GMC, and CADILLAC DEALERS

OnStar expands OnStar Mobile App availability to some Model Year 2010 vehicles

Effective immediately, the OnStar mobile app, that connects owners with their vehicles – wherever it is, whenever they want, is now available to download and use with the following MY 2010 vehicles:

Cadillac DTS, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT

Buick Enclave, Lucerne

GMC Acadia, Yukon, Yukon XL

Chevrolet Avalanche, Impala, Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse

This will complete the list of eligible MY 2010 vehicles. There are no plans to make MY 2009 vehicles mobile app capable in the foreseeable future.

Please note that Remote Start functionality will only work on vehicles where Remote Start has been factory-installed and factory-enabled.

The OnStar mobile app offers an amazing level of control and connection to vehicles. After downloading and registering the app, owners with an eligible vehicle can use their compatible smart phone to access real-time data from their vehicle and perform specific commands – like unlocking their doors – remotely.

Unparalleled control to:

Lock/unlock doors from any distance2
Start vehicles remotely 3
Activate Horn & Lights to help locate vehicle
Contact an OnStar Advisor, Roadside Assistance or Preferred Dealer
Unprecedented connectivity to:

View real-time fuel information, including fuel range, gallons of gas remaining and lifetime MPG
Check remaining oil life
View current tire pressure readings & recommendations4
Access account information

OnStar Mobile Application– All communication between the app and vehicles is powered by OnStar’s advanced connected technology. For that reason, owners must have an active OnStar account as well as a valid OnStar website Username and Password to use the app. Please note: If your customer already has an OnStar Username and Password, they’ll still need to visit their Account Settings to activate the app’s Remote Commands and to verify that their correct email address is listed on their account profile.

OnStar Mobile Application Compatible Devices and App Download:

iPhone®5, iPod Touch® and iPad® devices – visit the AppStore and search for “OnStar MyLink”
Android™6 mobile device with WVGA or HVGA resolution running Android OS 2.1 or later – visit the Android Market using your mobile device and search for “OnStar MyLink”

No Blackberry app either, I think I'm done holding my breath on this Mylink idea. GM if your going to bring out a product for the general public to use you should make it available to EVEYONE not just a select few.

MyLink for the 2011 Malibu and HHR are coming with full functionality in the near future.

OnStar is in communication with RIM to explore options to bring MyLink to BlackBerry. No estimated time of availability exists at present.

How near is the future? My OnStar is about to expire and if it's real close I just might keep it. If not . . . . . .

Probably just another service that they would charge extra for anyway? Onstar is already WAY to expensive for what you are getting.

No exact date is announced, though I wouldn't expect more than maybe 2-3 weeks. They know the exact issue and are just in the process of coding the back end.

Can't wait but seems like they keep saying It's coming, it's coming and it never does. Not a great big deal to me but I just think it would be very cool to have and I don't understand why one of the best selling cars they have isn't supported.

Mylink is THE only reason i would ever renew my on-star subscription! GM or On-star you need to take note of this. im sure i am not the only one with this opinion.

I did not renew my onstar last month on my Malibu, I cited the lack of MyLink as a contributing factor.

I'm days away from it expiring. I will cite the same if it doesn't start working right away.

I talked to our onstar rep at the dealership last week and she said that the 2011 Malibu Mylink app was on track for a mid July release. Kinda sucks, I have it on my Sierra and it's awesome. I wish I had it for my Malibu.

I'm such a derelict for not updating this - pardon me! That initial 2-3 week guesstimate was accurate until they moved around some staff to finish on the upcoming FMV mirror. It's now on-track to be released within one month.

Same here, but since I have an 09, doesn't look like I'll ever mess with On$tar again...

I was just reading in an OnStar user forum that the remote start feature will not be functioning until sometime on the 16th (today)

I have also been reading that you must have the key fob remote start feature installed in the vehicle for the remote start feature to work with MyLink.

It's a "gee whiz" application for a smart phone that allows you to do some of the same things by remote control that the Onstar center can do.

This worrys me just a little bit because, despite everyone's best intentions and efforts, things like that are sometimes "hackable" with unpleasant results.

I think there is some information about it at the Onstar website.

I'm trying to test this on my 2011 malibu and i'm getting the following message on my droid.

Unable To Execute Command

Visit your account settings at
onstar.com/mobile to acttivate
remote commands.

Anyone else getting this?

Also its only showing buttons for lock/unlock and horn&lights. No remote start and I have the LTZ with remote start from the factory.

I just got off the phone with them and they said while it was to be released yesterday, it still is not working correctly.

The info that you are able to load from vehicle is not complete and the remote functions obviously aren't working.

I was given an extra 6 months of subscription for my inconvenience however.

No time as to when it will work.

I was on the phone with on star when I read the last post. They told me that the my link mobile app was not available for my vehicle. :(

Plus they did not give me any extra months..

You have to "signup" for the MyLink service on the OnStar website in the My Account section for MyLink to work. It has something to do with the pairing of specific phones to a specific vehicle for security purposes.

This service is available only on the 2011 Malibu's as well as many other but not all 2011 models and a few select 2010 models. It does not function on the 2010 or older Malibu's, and probably never will.

You also have to have an active OnStar account

troyinne

Online it states that the Malibu is not a vehicle that is equipped. There is not the option to signup.

As far as the free extension, I stated that I was very displeased with the fact that they are advertising on TV about this feature as well as when I bought the vehicle a month ago they used this as a sales pitch. Rep was sorry for the misinformation and gave me the free time.

Dear jeegrady,

This is an application that can be downloaded to certain cell phones that will allow you to lock or unlock your doors, use remote start and other functions like a key fob could do. You can visit www.onstar.com to get more information about this application. When you visit the site you will be able to click on the Mylink icon to get further information about this. You will also be able to view what vehicles and phones that this application should work with. For detailed information about this, I would call the OnStar company.

Sincerely,
Michelle, Chevrolet Customer Service

Talk about a long delay on a 2-time Best Pick and a botched roll-out of a product!

A couple months ago I got an empty promise from OnStar: "It'll be released soon." Weeks went by and nothing, not even a wimper. And yet some of the other cars that didn't get such a high rating by the magazines got MyLink.

They're lame. Period. They might have a good product that works, but their ability to take care of the paying customers sucks. They've put effort, time, and money into all sorts of other features for other cars but the Malibu (how many vehicles are out there???) is only going to be suported for the 2011 model year. What about all the other owners? That's just lame. Software costs nothing once it has been developed. If they want customers then instead of empty words on TV advertising all sorts of bells and whistles, why not upgrade all the vehicles out there with free software. It'll still require OnStar service to work, but guess what? That means they'll sell more service. Hmmm, novel approach, eh?

And you can't beat word of mouth advertising. Dang, even more bang for the buck! My next car will be a Ford or something else.

They need to pull their heads out of their you-know-whats. Either that or I'll buy them a glass belly button.

BTW, I really like the Fusion and Edge... I only hear good things about Sync.

I thought I would check the onstar site today and I was able to activate the mylink mobile app for my 2011 malibu ltz (yesterday I could not). However I do not see the remote start option in the mylink app for my droid phone. After I logged into onstar.com then i when to onstar.com/mobile and click the manage tab. Then it gave me an option to activate the mylink. Hope this helps.
