I need to drop the pan change the fluid and filter. Just not sure how many quarts of Dextron VI and is the stock gasket re-useable?

Also does the converter have a drain?

The pan gasket should be reusable as long as it is not in too bad of shape after you take it apart. Also, as long it is a factory gasket with metal sleeves around the bolt holes. According to GM it is 6.9 quarts of fluid when the pan is dropped. Pan bolts torque to 106 in lbs if you need this info. There is no drain for the torque converter, the only way to change the fluid in it is by having the trans flushed.

according to the dealer GM doesn't recommend flushing. Thats why I assumed the TC would have a drain. Thanks for the info :)

I have never ran into issues flushing my trans or any customer vehicles. Although, there is a risk when it comes to transmissions that have burnt fluid in them which could lead to problems if it is flushed. If the fluid isn't really bad I will generally drop the pan and change the fluid (not this car), or if it is really dirty but not burnt I will flush the trans like I had to on the malibu. In any way it is better than not doing anything.
