: Mustang vs Camaro vs Challenger
Lgndryhr 04-04-2011, 08:56 PM So I've always been an American Muscle fan since I was little. I almost bought an '10 Camaro when I bought my '09 Malibu, but I needed a practical car while still in school for work and traveling as well as wanted decent MPG's. If I had gotten a Camaro I'd be getting horrible MPG's due to lead foot and showing off, haha. Anyways, I was wondering which people prefer overall as well as which redesign you enjoy most now. If none of these then tell us!
I myself am a big Camaro fan. I loved the classic and love the redesign except for a few things. It has a horrible blind spot when I sat in it. It feels like I'm sitting in a tank compared to the Mustang too. I still really want a Camaro once I finish college and get myself going or if I somehow finish paying of my Malibu around time I graduate. Probably going to graduate in fall of 2012.
2010granltz 04-04-2011, 09:31 PM I owned an 05 and 06 Mustang. I enjoyed them both alot but didn't care for all the issues I had with them. The 06 sealed its fate when I had to have part of the engine compartment repainted from the brake fluid leak they were notorious for.
We traded my wife's Tahoe for a Malibu because of the gas prices but I did all I could to try to get her to get a Camaro, but she still has some 'we need a family' car thing going on, even with a 20 yr old kid.
I think the Camaro is a beautiful car and the blind spots are a bit annoying but they are easy to get used to from what I understand. The Challenger is ok but I think it looks too much like an older funny car.
If I could I would buy the Camaro in a heartbeat but that would mean getting rid of my 71 Skylark and that is not going to happen.
DrivenDaily 04-05-2011, 04:38 AM Of those three I would prefer the Mustang. The Camaro is too "dark" looking and I'm not a fan of Chrysler products overall. However, style-wise I like the Challenger better than the Camaro, and it's a very close second to the Mustang.
And even being a single person I still prefer having four doors. It's just more practical for me.
bullitt4204 04-05-2011, 06:30 AM I would pick the Mustang GT with the 5 litre. Best bang for the buck at the entry price of $31K !!!
budman65 04-05-2011, 06:36 AM Even the V6 mustang has received incredible reviews for it's style and performance. You have to give Ford credit for hitting the mark on this pony car.
Lgndryhr 04-05-2011, 10:38 AM Yea I keep reading nothing but positive things about the new Mustang. I need to go test drive one. I have test driven the Camaro a few times. I cannot get into the Challenger. I really like the new Charger though.
08chevymalibultz 04-05-2011, 11:57 AM Mustang without a doubt! Even the V6 is impressive, good horsepower with decent MPG!
I like the design looks of the Camaro better but I think the Mustang is a better car! Actually I think Ford are now making better cars and trucks in general compared to the other American Auto Makers!
They did it on their own with no bailouts! You have to give them great credit!
budman65 04-05-2011, 12:26 PM I would be happy with either the Camaro or the Mustang. I wouldn't even consider buying a Chrysler product.
Lgndryhr 04-05-2011, 04:20 PM Yea I give Ford much credit for doing it without any bailout money. They saw what the market needed and wanted. The attacked that and executed it well. Chevy is just now getting on its feet and even then it still has a long way to go. The Mustang is a better built car than the Camaro in my opinion, but I still prefer the look of the Camaro. I've never been a fan of Chrysler products minus their recent redesigns. I really like the new Charger & the 200 and 300 series cars. Would I buy any of them? No. I've been raised a Chevy boy, but will not deny in recent years Ford has made leaps and bounds to the right direction. They have started to catch my eye now.
Silver LTZ 04-05-2011, 04:56 PM FYI, there never was a "09" Camaro....
I have always been a Camaro guy, on my 5th one now. BUT, if I was to buy a new pony car it would be a 5.0 Mustang. Best overall package to me. Camaro has a great powertrain, but not a fan of the bathtub look. I love the way the Challenger looks, but it is just so big and heavy.
chevyguy8893 04-05-2011, 06:55 PM I would have to go with the mustang also. It is the lightest of the three and has a good amount of power for only being a 5.0L. I did hear though that any of the newer ones are going to be heavier to meet some government standard, so if this is true then the first year with the 5.0 will be the lightest.
I love the LS drive train in the camaro, but I hate the suspension and the heavy body of the car. I just flat out love the style and drive train of the challenger srt-8, but hate how heavy the car is. If you like the 6.2 there is always the G8 GXP with the 6-speed:D.

Opps. Thanks for catching my mistake!
