I thought you had found a seller who sells the rims as a package. Looks like you're gonna have to buy them individually.

The wheels that he mentioned are made in China and NOT OEM. For $500 though, it's a pretty good alternative.

I would advise against buying Chinese steel, based on my time in the steel industry.

As for using it for your wheels at 80MPH? I would say you are putting up with alot of risk. there have been alot of stories about those wheels fracturing at high speeds on a pothole, etc... I would be advised that replica wheels are made for show (thus they are replica's), not for use.

5th - Why are you even posting in these forums? Chicago was just giving advise. There is no need to be rude.

I will quote your original post, not the edited one.

HA! HA! AZH! AH! AH! Thats the funniest thing I have heard in a long time. The wheels are made for show and not for use. HA! HA! OH WOW

Anyway rims are not made from steel nor are they made by GM or in the USA.

The fact of the matter is, the wheels ARE manufactured for show. They are designed primarily to LOOK like the wheel that people want. They are not designed primarily with the safety of car occupants in mind. There are many cases where these Ebay knockoff wheels have exploded or fractured at speed. If you are suggesting I think that people buy these to use as cupholders or lampposts or hats, that is just plain silly. They do it to save 20-50% on the price. My opinion is that they are doing it at the cost of safety.

Quality aftermarket wheels are, IMHO, not just for show, but also either retain the same level of safety for the OEM parts or improve on them.

I'll leave it at that, for now. I am not a metallurgist, nor have I had any first hand experience with these wheels. But I do know people who have seen them in action, on cars, and in use. They are often brittle metal.

I am on this forum to share my ideas and thoughts with everyone else. None of us are experts at everything, or often at anything at all, but as a collective we can share observations and experiences and opinions in a helpful and constructive way.

Please note... I don't necessarily know these wheels came from ebay, but they are examples of why having a wheel is well manufactured is important:

I placed the limitations of my knowledge in my post. I like my fun pictures. The fact that something that has the same design will have the same workmanship just because it is made of the same material is quite untrue.

I'm constructing my posts logically. I also review what I am about to post. You've edited posts up to 8 hours after you've made them, and they have included words such as "azh" and "lolz".

I am done hijacking this thread with you, and although i completely disagree with your approach to this forum and how you are being rude to others over and over, I'm willing to agree to disagree.

5thElement has been banned. His insults and misinformation have exceeded my tolerance, and I'm sure that of many others. Good riddance!

Any posts that referred to his without quoting them may seem a little odd, but keeping in mind that the post used to be there will help make it more understandable.

I regret having to take the step of banning him, but he was warned a number of times. Insults seem to be his way, and it won't be allowed anymore.

Thanks Driven, I don't think I started thinking too much about it till recently, and then I looked back and apparently there have been complaints streaming in for a while now...

Like you said in the other thread, we can breathe easy.

I'm glad you did, I did not even consider the replica wheels not to be fully functional, I understood it to mean simply not an OEM product. I see this deserves more thought on my part. I appreciate your input.

Yeah, just keep in mind that if someone is selling a legit wheel from a legit or OEM manufacturer, just because it is on EBAY it doesn't mean it is bad. But the wheels that are literally cheap enough that it seems "too good to be true" and are brand new, they likely are. Just like alot of things on ebay, they are like 70% off but of really poor quality. But for alot of things, that is great! I just see wheels as a critical part of probably the most dangerous part of your average day (driving your car).

Thanks for the input, too.

To the OP: I'm sure someone with an LTZ has upgraded and is looking to drop the LTZ wheels, you'll find a match sooner or later. Just not THE most common thing to find on demand. :-)
