: DVD Nav not so good for me....

My wife and I went with my parents to dinner the other night. I was setting up front with my dad and started to play with the Nav screen in thier 300C. After a few minutes I noticed that I was getting car sick. It was getting bad to the point where I couldn't even glance at the screen without feeling sick. Then after dinner riding in the dark made it even worse.

I use to think these thing were cool and I nearly bought one a few months back for the truck but I think I'm gonna pass. Thank God the LTZ Malibu didn't come with one.

I'd like to see it as an available option on the LTZ just the same. I loved it on my Av LTZ, but it wasn't a standard part of the LTZ package- just something I picked from a list of additional items.

08LTZ, I get the same way when I'm reading something or looking at something for a long time in the car. Its a very odd feeling, I get massivly dizzy and very sick to my stomach. Hell I feel weird just thinking about it.

My wife and daughter can get car sick very easily. The only way for them to combat it is to be the driver. They both make lousy passengers.

I suppose I get carsick. I can't be the passenger very often as I get so nervous I make myself ill. Strange, I know, but true...

You know what this might get me banned but I am going to say it, what the F*** is wrong with you? So you have a mental disorder that prevents you from using an in dash navigation system, don't order the damn option. I've been using my in dash system in my second vehicle for two years now and never got sick staring at the screen. I wanted this option in this car and when I start cross shopping this car with other vehicles I am considering it will weight against it. Of course Chevy can afford to lose another customer.

Think twice about telling me the virtues of the screenless On Star navigation or the small/tacky clip on's.

You won't get banned that easily Curious, but please express yourself without the personal attacks. They're unnecessary and don't help make your point.

I, too, wish there was an optional in-dash Nav Unit. I have a Garmin that has worked well for me, but find it a pain to attach when I need it and to remove it when I don't. (to prevent theft)

I also like the OnStar because you talk to a real person when seeking directions. Recently, I was without my Garmin and found myself stuck in traffic. I used OnStar and explained the traffic situation and asked to be rerouted. I was given an alternate route, but refused it. I was asked why and explained the new route would also be jammed. I was given a second route that took me through some back roads and completely eliminated the jam-ups. My Garmin wouldn't do that as easily as dealing with an OnStar rep.

I am sorry, but his statement was an ignorant statement. If this vehicle offered the option all he had to do is not select the option. For example, I don't like manual transmissions but I don't come on here and say "Oh, I am glad the Malibu didn't offer stick shift because I hate shifting my own gears". That would be ignorant because I know a small group of people enjoy shifting gears.

Oh and PizzaMan, the newer in dash navigation systems offered by GM work with On Star. Now an On Star representative can download directions directly to it. That is something I would pay for, but not for On Star turn by turn without it.

I would too, Curious.

OK, to get this back in the right direction... My TomTom makes me sick from being flat out WRONG quite often. Do NOT buy a TomTom.

Because my Cobalt didn't have OnStar and I have no sense of direction, I ended up having to buy a Garmin Nuvi 750 and use it for the past few months.. now that my Malibu has OnStar with turn-by-turn navigation I'm thinking of getting rid of the Garmin.. it's not that I don't like it but it's kind of a pain having to keep plugging it in (for recharging/updating). I have used the OnStar navigation numerous times and I have been more than pleased.. it's also nice talking to a live advisor (They're very friendly which amazes me seeing how many things I've heard about how horrible it is to work there). I do agree with you guys that in-dash navigation should be an option but I feel OnStar is plenty sufficient.. The next model of Malibu will probably have it as an option if the new Cobalt/Cruz is supposed to.

Sorry I run-on everything LOL I'm not into the whole 100% proper English thing.

Damn, I didn't think anyone would take it so seriously. I don't care if the Malibu has a NAV screen option or not. I just glad that my car didn't have one.

Sorry

I have a buddy with a TomTom and he has the same complaint.
