I recently purchased an 08 Malibu, and was wondering what the maintenance schedule is, obviously not including oil and air filters. My Civic has it's first tune up at 100,000 miles... is the Malibu the same?

There is a maintenance schedule in the back of your owners manual.
The main items are done at 100,000 miles.
