Hey, guys!
I was at my local muffler shop to get a quote on changing out my system so it'll breathe better. In the process I snapped these pics so you can see the exhaust system up at the front where you never see it.
The wide shot:

At the first flange to the flex coupler:

The in-line cat and the front of the resonator:

So are you thinking of removing that catalytic converter?

No, not exactly.
On my '09 3.6 I removed the muffler in favor of twin resonators. Nice sound, better performance, better mileage. Freeway was always above 30 (usu. 32-34), town was usually around 20. Current 3.6 is around 20 in town but only 26-28 on freeway.
With that experience I am going to do similarly to this 3.6, but this time use mufflers instead of resonators.
Reason for the pics and quote is I'm thinking of doing a cat-back system, and since the 3rd cat is behind the flange I'll have to replace it with another cat (being ecologically responsible plus keeping the emissions warranty in place). MagnaFlow has just started offering a cat-back system (I'm pretty sure, anyhow) so I'm waiting on a quote from the muffler shop on that. But if I don't do it that way I'll have him either do a custom one or a MagnaFlow system. I already have a buyer for the stock twin outlet system. Otherwise I'd just whack the muffler and mod it back there.

The magnaflow cat-back exhaust system for our cars is still not available. They have updated recently with saying it'll be out in June/July of this year.

Magnaflow this June or July? They have had the part number on their website for at least a year now. Any other companies??
Thanks

UPDATE:
The member showing a possible interest in my stock system from the cat back was able to land a killer deal through his dealer. I'm happy that he'll be able to get what he wants and save money at the same time.
So my plans are to go back to my original plan. Remove the muffler as it comes out, cut off the stock tips, plumb in a Y-pipe and twin mufflers, then attach the stock tips so they come out at about the same place. Even if it doesn't give a slightly throatier sound it should result in less restriction, which most of the time should give better mileage.

Just a one in two out should sound great.. Im a noob here but keep me posted.. I went from the stock single to the stock duals on my 4cyl. I got hit in the rear end and during the repair process I talked my body shop into throwing the rear valence and dual on for me. It looks great but doesnt make much of a difference.
