: pulled over?
BeautiBU 05-25-2011, 09:19 AM i dont know about all you great people but i feel like when i drive my malibu, i get lots of looks ( positive or negative i dont know)
but ive gotten pulled over 3 times within the last 2 weeks and every time i was told that "your vehicle looks suspicious"
do any of you guys get this or am i the only lucky one to get the polices attention?
Silver LTZ 05-25-2011, 09:54 AM Ugh...

Great Thread Award? I don't get it.
But why does your car seem suspicious? Have you done anything to it?
bmitchell7798 05-25-2011, 10:21 AM Quit driving 80+ through the hood and you will be 'aiiight' :)
BeautiBU 05-25-2011, 11:22 AM lmao. i drive like a normal person. and i dont drive through "hoods" and i dont do anything illegal. im going to become a fire fighter for LAFD so it is not in my nature to do illegal activities besides my occasional lead foot. the only time im doing 80+ is on the freeway when its late and no ones one the freeway with me.
i also dont understand what silver said. "Great thread award here. Plus wrong section. Moving..." thread award? what does that mean? and wrong section? is there a section that i should be writing in? im not asking for anything special, i would just like to know if anyone else has this problem. and hopefully everyone was raised with proper manners and goes by "if you have nothing nice to say then DONT say anything" because im not gonna say anything negative to any of you unless completely called for. im here just like all of you i hope to get great info on our cars.
back to the topic at hand...
i wonder if its because my car is blacked out?
my gf was driving the other day and went through a check point and started hassling her about my car being suspicious.
i have the black granite paint, tinted windows (20% in front and 5% in back) and i put 8,000k HID (which might be a reason) thats all that ive done to it on the outside.
Lgndryhr 05-25-2011, 11:36 AM yea your car looks suspicious due to the tint first off then having 8000k HIDs doesn't help your case any. my last car I had a similar tint setup and got pulled over all the time, but never got a ticket.
chevyguy8893 05-25-2011, 01:22 PM I live in a city next to Gary, Indiana which turns out caprice's (box and bubbles:)) on gigantic wheels. My car may have dark tint, tinted tails, subs, and HID's, but I don't get hassled for it. I have had cop friends tell me it looks kinda like a ghetto cruiser though.
Police around here do pull "suspicious" vehicles over since there is an issue with drug running between cities around here down one road. It is also borderline profiling, but I guess it works well.
bmitchell7798 05-25-2011, 01:51 PM I have 20s and a ground effects kit and I never get pulled over. I think it is because I have the dad and child stick people on my rear window and the "I support kids" license plate. LOL. I donate to a lot of charities for kids, hence the license plate.
BeautiBU 05-25-2011, 01:56 PM Yeah my dad is LAPD with 37 years on and my uncle has 20+ on LAFD. but when i get pulled over they let me go but its just the hassle of getting pulled over in the first place. and then for them to tell me the reason is my car, just doesnt make sense to me. so thank you all for you input. i just wanted to see if anyone else had my problem.
DrivenDaily 05-25-2011, 02:30 PM I've never been pulled over by the country hicks around here. My first 'Bu was black and I had 35% front tint and 20% tint on the rest.
Now I have one that's red with 20% all around.
I would tend to think that maybe where you drive, what you're driving when you're there, and possibly also how you drive (movements, lane changes, etc) could raise their curiosity.
Or, as you say, it is more likely profiling, or borderline.
Around here I have a running joke about cop cars: If you see one use the blinker, call 9-1-1 'cuz it must be stolen! :) Our local yocals drive like they're in the Good Ol' Boys Club, which I guess they are. They often go over the speed limit by 15-20 or more, don't use blinkers, and drive fast on narrow roads without emergency lights. Recently one t-boned a car without his emergency lights and sent 3 people to the hospital, and one of those was a new bride of just one hour! Oh, yeah, he ran a red light in the process.
So, cops are just people, too. If their boss is pushing an agenda and telling them to pay more than the usual attention to cars that look menacing or "gangsta", then you're just a victim of small minds in a big chair.

Joeyavhu 05-25-2011, 07:20 PM Police around my area are pretty rough. My car is at 8% tint all around, 20s, and 8k headlights, 3k fogs... its draws a lot of attention from the po po :/ mostly to search the car because it looks like a suspicious vehicle, its come up a lot since I put in the HIDs and the wheels especially.

well i love what youve done with your car. every thing youve done i wouldnt change anything. good lookin car man! love the color!
Plague 05-26-2011, 02:24 PM I've actually been thinking the same thing about these cars too, or at least mine. When i'm driving home from work I seem to attract the attention of the police a bit more than i'd like to. But I also think it may be that I am driving home at 4-5am and they have nothing better to do than to tail and run the plates of a random dark colored car with dark tint. So far I haven't been pulled over, just tailed a lot by cops.
