Well my time has come to say goodbye to the malibu..

My LTZ served me while despite the many issues it had. I have been in talks with GM and such and just decided it's not worth my time and effort.

It's a great forum and a great community though and it is one sweet looking ride.

We still have the 4cyl ltz but the 6cyl has been traded.

Well that actually makes me a little sad. LOL Your youtube videos showing your Malibu 2 years ago helped me decide to buy my Malibu LTZ. I've had better luck with mine than you apparently. If you're having constant problems, I'd trade it also. I've actually considered trading mine because of the bad gas mileage my V6 gets. I remember your screen name used to be ScionDragon. What will your new name be?

So what you get?

I sure hope GM gets the new Malibu right. The Gen 7 just has too many issues and unhappy people like you and me trading them in years earlier then planned.

I just purchased a 09 LS the other day. I was just curious as to what kind of issues plague the Malibu? Is it just for the V6 model or are these problems more widespread?

I agree that the gas mileage is not great on the V6. It is not too bad on the highway but the city driving takes a real hard hit. I have often seen mine go below the 17mpg city rating. Get off the highway and just watch your DIC MPG drop real quick in town/city, too quick!

Again If you drive mostly highway, the V6 is not bad in my opinion but if you do more of city with little highway, that is were the V6 sucks Gas like there is no tomorrow! You can notice it without checking your DIC by just looking at you gas gauge.

I think the Gas tanks on the Malibu are just too small for the V6!

On the positive side, I like the extra horsepower of the V6. The I4 is just a little under powered for the weight of the Malibu but I am sure the I4 owners are laughing at us with these high gas prices.

Search the problems section and you will see. Some get lucky, but there are many issues with vibrations, steering racks, transmissions, etc. V6 and I4.
