The driver's seat on my '05 Malibu Maxx is broken. Only one side goes up when I attempt to raise the seat. So i end up lopsided.
Anyway, its a great excuse to upgrade the seats for better ones. I have a lengthy commute. What other (GM) seats fit?

Dear Blkngold,
I have read your post about needing a new seat for your 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx. Have you tried taking a look on the GM Parts Direct site? If you haven't they may have what you are seeking. Their site is http://www.gmpartsdirect.com. Please, keep in mind that General Motors neither endorses nor maintains these sites and will not be responsible for any of its contents. You may find what you are looking for on the above site.
Sincerely,
Michelle, Chevrolet Customer Service

I appreciate the link and info I am sure I will need something soon.
However, I have a long commute and I don't find the Malibu seats to be comfortable. I want to find out what other seats out of another GM would fit and I would look for a pair of used seats.

Dear Blkngold,
It is my pleasure to provide you with that.
I completely understand what you are seeking for more comfort. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the cross reference information of seats that General Motors has made for other vehicles that would work in your 2005 Malibu Maxx. I am sure that more people in the CMF community will be able to offer avenues for you to try.
I hope that you have a great day.
Sincerely,

Trying to find your answer takes an unconventional approach. While it appears that there is a selection of seats available for a 2005 Malibu, car-parts.com (online auto salvage database) isn't obvious which are specific to the Maxx. Car-parts.com does specify seats by specific VIN letter. I believe "Z" is the correct letter. So, mosey on over to car-parts.com and figure out which VIN numbered seats are appropriate to your car. It would appear there is a selection of cloth & leather factory seats for the 2005 Malibu.
On the other hand if you're looking for bolt in seats from another GM manufacturer then you have to change your seach parameter. The 2005 Maxx is built on the Epsilon I chassis. The following quote is from Wikipedia:
"Vehicles based on the Epsilon I platform:
Regular
2002 Opel Vectra
2003 Saab 9-3
2004 Chevrolet Malibu
2006 Cadillac BLS
Extended
2003 Opel Signum
2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
2005 Pontiac G6
2005 Fiat Croma
2007 Saturn Aura
2008 Chevrolet Malibu"
I gather that seats from any of the Z platform car could possibly just bolt right in. Possibly the Cadillac or Pontiac seats would be more to your posteriors comfort.
I can relate another personal experience. I have a 97 Pontiac Grand Prix 2 door. In 97, and for a few years after, Pontiac made Grand Prixs in both 2 door and 4 door models. There were suble differences between them besides the obvious door issue. Both were W bodies, but the 4 door was slightly longer in the passenger compartment (1 to 2 inches IIRC), and overal length. The 4 door model had shorter front seats and the front seat didn't fold forward for rear seat access. However, the front seats were "bolt in" compatible between the 2 door and 4 door model.
