i got a better picture of the "cold air intake" i made out of pvc elbows and a rubber connector i got from the hardware store for my 06 3.5 using the factory intake but getting rid of the factory box and restrictive chuck o plastic in the bumper the only down side is i have to take off the headlight to get to the filter and i still want to make some kind of sheilding to keep the small amount of water that gets in under the light off the filter, but the great thing about it is there was no cutting or modification required just removing stock plastic

the second pic was taken at night so i had to use photo shop to brighten and it got alittle grainy
also painted the hubcaps partly for looks also helps hide the cracks and missing bits of the passenger side ones from a slide i had last winter

how is sound and have you noticed any performance or MPG gain?
And how are you planning on protecting the filter.
And you'd be surprised, this type of DIY intake is popular among us Trailblazer/Envoy owners. I am planning on doing it on my TB. Problem is that there is no good place to get cold air. And our air box sits right on top of the windshield washer fluid reservoir and pumps.

i have built some protection for the filter to keep water from going under the light onto the filter i just took the big square box pice that was on the stock intake tube hiding in the bumper and cut the top off leaving about 2" on the sides and bolted it to the stock holes so any water that gets in will just run off of it and hopefully miss the filter it does seem to have a few more horses and i picked up 1 or 2 mpg but mostly i just like being able to wash and re-oil it instead of buying a new filter

I like this mod, seems easy and looks clean. How has it been doing so far?

Nice work. Gives me a lil motivation to do something about my stocker.
