Hello everyone. I just bought an 08 LS with 32000 miles for $12,400 from my local dealership. On the website the ad lists it as having Xm Radio and the window sticker shows it having OnStar. Also, the dealer told me it had OnStar. Well, it has neither.... Honestly, i probably would never use OnStar and i plan on installing my own audio equipment within the next month or two. But, still they lied. I mean im pretty sure the most they would do is take the thing back and give me back my money. I really dont want to give it back lol. I freakin love this car. Any suggestions on what i should ask from them? You think i should ask them to maybe reimburse me for a head unit and call it good? I dont know...

This is my first, but far from last post. Dig the forum and look forward to the convos in the future. Thanks everyone.

This is a conflict resolution. Go to them and talk to them like humans. If you get what you need then it's win-win. If not, consider a lawyer.

If not, consider a lawyer.

Over something that he really doesn't want anyway ??
I don't think that is a prudent course to take.

AND he needs to be sure that the hardware for both isn't really present but just doesn't work because there is no active subscription.

A really LOT of used cars "have" Xm and Onstar but don't have an active subscription; thus, they don't "work".

Well, it has neither....

Are you sure?
Both those are pay services that require a monthly fee to make them work.

My question, is if your buying used, despite what the ad or sticker says, as part of the test drive don't you play with the radio to see or ask how to access the onstar or xm?

But I agree, if your not that concerned about the equipment since you plan on replacing anyway..what's the point?

Dear Chevy Pendergrass,

I have read about your situation with your vehicle and the information that was provided about it by the dealership. If you would like, I could make a complaint on your behalf. If you would like to do this please, let me know and I will get the additional information that I will need to proceed.

the dealer I purchased mine at had the same thing. listed it with xm and onstar on the sticker as well as being certified used which should have extended the factory warranty and I got none of it. I didnt really care i had no intentions of using it but its just other ways taht the dealership tries to get you.

Thanks for the replies guys. Im positive i dont have either one. Im going to pay them a visit today and see what they will do. I'll be friendly about it and see where that gets me i guess. If it gets me nowhere then no biggie. If they at least try to give me a little something then i'll be happy. Again, thanks everyone. If it werent for these forums i wouldnt have bought my BU in the first place. I cant believe the 180 GM did with these.

Last year my daughter bought an 09 Pontiac Torrent from a large used car and Chevy dealer. The car was listed as having On Star and XM but it was obvious during the test drive it had neither. The sales guy didn't have a clue but I suspected the reason it didn't have those two things was because the car was a rental car from down South. The rental agencies don't usually bother with things like that and have them deleted to lower cost. By the way the car has been great for my daughter. In the North it is hard to find a clean car that has gone through a winter or two and this had an undercarriage and wheel wells that were as clean as the day it was driven on the truck at the factory. This dealer makes a practice of picking up tractor trailer loads of rental and lease cars being sold at auctions across the South.

You also have to pay a ceritfication fee, if you dont pay you get no play.

How did this visit turn out?

Other question, do you have these 3 buttons (possibly a fourth as well) on the bottom of your rearview mirror? If so, push the blue button and see if it connects with OnStar.

Alot of us are disabling the damn thing after our subscription is over anyway so ONSTAR can't spy on us afterwards! LOL
