I hate having a nicely machine polished and waxed car only to have a nasty looking muffler in plain sight to anyone driving behind me.
I did a quickie job on this using 180, 600, 1000, and then 2000 grit sanding it and then hit it with a quick polish using the Porter Cable 7424xp, the crappy pad it comes with that isn't fit for the car's paint, and some Adam's metal polish.
I'm pretty happy with the results considering I only spent about an hour on the whole project.

Looks good but I would have just cleaned the muffler and dual pipes and shot them with some high temp silver paint ;)

I like the fact that it's actually metal and not a paint trying to emulate metal. Could you take another pic when there's daylight, please? That looks really nice. I will have to consider doing that to mine for the same reason: if yer gonna see it, it might as well be presentable! :)

Malo83, I actually do have some high temp silver paint that I could have used, but I don't really like the color of silver I chose. I tried it on the front calipers because I wanted a polished metal look, but it came out badly and I ended up going with a gloss black. I'll upload a picture of how they came out later.
I could have polished these to a higher shine, but I was doing this at 11pm and had to get up at 6:30am for work so I wasn't looking to do the greatest job in the world. lol

I think anyone following an '11 model would have to be belly-down on a skateboard to see the muffler......or pipes for that matter. ;)
Before you spend much more time on it, you should let it "cook" for a while. If not before, the first time you drive it with wet streets, I suspect that you will be right back almost where you started.
