If you also have automatic headlights, that could be rather complicated.

Why do you want to do this ??

I think the newer models have a way to disable them but they reset after a restart.

The problem is that most systems use the high beam elements at ~ half voltage.......so you can't just snip a wire.

If you don't have automatic headlights, then just covering the light sensor on the dash should work. That might work anyway if you don't mind reverting back to manual headlights all the time.

What? The newer generation Malibu's require a fuse being pulled and the DRL's are disabled. Nothing complicated.

Simple google came up with the following result. Do this at your own risk as you are cutting a wire.

Locate BCM (Body Conrtol Modual) underneath passenger side dash. It should be under the black plastic cover, just beneath the the glove box. You will see a black box, with three plugs in it. Locate the center plug. There should be a dark blue wire. This wire engergizes the relay that disables the DRL's. If you cut the wire, and ground it out, you system will think the headlights are on (even though they will be off), thus disabling the DRL's.

I came across that article on some DRL site, but I think that was for older model malibu's. Then again I've also heard/read that the 04-05 classic is simply an 03 as far a the electrical system goes. Cutting wires and adding relays and such doesn't really worry me. I do it on a daily basis with alarms and starter kill switches and stuff. Thanks for the info. I was justs wanting reassurance that there wasn't something simpler to it than that.

What happens when you pull the DRL relay?

that worked. but i noticed yesterday that we had a very overcast day the lights came on. so im assuming i have light sensors and will turn them on anyway. i did pull the relay and it worked. thanks guys. im new to chevy's always have had fords.

Yes, pulling the DRL relay does nothing for the ALC (Automatic Light Control) relay.

Ford? Well the DRL module (Canadian required, optional USA) on my 1991 Cougar does nothing to affect the AutoLamp module - they're independent of each other. Same idea.

the two fords i owned didnt have DRL. well the taurus i had had the option to disable it on the dash. and since i had HID's in them both i disabled it. and the explorer had a manual switch.
