: Motor Trend First Drive of 2013 Malibu ECO
rluck9277 09-16-2011, 02:35 PM Motor Trend has just put up there first drive story of the 2013 Malibu ECO, very positive so far.

I love the look of the car, and the interior, but I am having a hard time getting used to the rear. I really like how they talk about it being more sporty than the previous Malibu.
cleatus 09-19-2011, 06:45 AM yeah- but does the TRUNK have a opening that will actually allow crap to be put in it?
PS to GM....TURBO DIESEL....
GolfTango 09-19-2011, 11:31 AM I prefer the interior of the 7th gen over the 8th.

Huh? The look, fit, finish and upgrades in the 8th gen blow away the 7th gen. The 7th gen door panels might have been the cheapest of any car I have owned....

Those huge center stack vents. Meh. It's all a matter of opinion and I think 7th Gen > 8th Gen.
Anyone shopping for this price point is better off in a Regal anyways. Better all around.
GolfTango 09-20-2011, 07:36 AM And the side profile reminds me of a Pontiac G6.

Which I guess you like since the rear 3/4 on an Aura is very G6-ish too.

Blasphemy! I do not care for the G6 sedan nor do I think the Aura resembles the GS in any way shape or form. :p
The window lines in the 8th gen Malibu look very much like the G6's.

Silver LTZ 09-20-2011, 05:03 PM They all look similar, being the same platform.
DrivenDaily 09-21-2011, 03:50 AM To me the G6 has always looked more like a Cobalt than a Malibu/Aura. I keep hearing that it was built on the Malibu/Aura line, but it still looks like they hung Cobalt stuff on it and changed the grille and taillights.
But that's just the cover. As they say, beauty is only skin deep.

I actually had '07 G6 GTP before my Malibu. While it wasn't near perfect, it was much better then my Malibu. Plus it was quicker and handled better. I "upgraded" to the nicer equiped Malibu, big mistake...

I am sure it is on here, but I am lazy today and don't feel like looking it up, but what happened to your Malibu that you dislike them so much now?

My problems are all over here LOL.
I had the car about two years, put not even 35K on it and it had some 15 trips to the dealer, and some issues were never fixed.
It had the vibration issue, went through two steering racks, had a A/C leak that meant all the foam and carpet had to be replaced, drivers seat broke, power window motor crapped out, dashboard warped, sunroof leaked and rattled, and I can go on and on. Car looked nice, and I tried to like it. But I lost all trust in it and couldn't wait to trade it in....
I still am here not only since I am an Administrator, but since I have had so much experience with the epsilon platform. But I would not recommended a current generation Malibu to anyone, ever.
Funny thing is I had a '98 Malibu I used as a station car when I worked in NYC and that thing had 140K on it and only needed an alternator.

That sucks. It is weird how some cars are great and have hardly any issues, but others are lemons.
I see you have a Mazda now, our other car is a 2010 Mazda CX-9, we have about 21,000 miles on it, and so far no issues at all.

Yup, just rolled 17K on it, only issue was a squeaky ebrake that needed adjusting. I like it a lot so far, complients the Camaro nicely.
alivingMalibu 04-24-2012, 02:43 AM They did a nice job on the Impala style. The Camaroish front grille looks a little too much. But, everything looks great! On looks alone, I would purchase the Impala over the Malibu...no question
