I picked up my new 08 yesterday. LOVE IT!. Before I even got the car home, I had chrome pillar posts on the way. Drove the car into the garage and installed these (10 min). Adds a great look. Bought them on eBay for $40.00. Window tints on the way and the spoliler next week.

I was looking at getting the posts but wasn't sure how durable they were. Have you had them put on other vehicles? If I go through a car wash the finish doesn't wear off does it?

I have had great luck with these. No problems what so ever.

Tell us more about the spoiler. Where did you purchase it from. I added one to my Pontiac G6 and it looks awesome. We just picked up our Malibu LT2 today and that was the first thing I thought about, does anyone make a spoiler for this yet.

Search ebay for "2008 malibu spoiler" there are 7 listed now for about 200.00 painted. Good luck

I looked up the company that I got my spoiler from for the my G6, it was Spoilers Direct, and they have one listed now for the 2008 Malibu, painted for $100, for anyone interested. Ive had it on the car for 1 year and am very happy with it. The paint color matched perfect.

I would be interested. Do they have a web site? If not how about a phone number.

I noticed them on E-Bay as well. Are they really chromed or are they polished stainless? I would want them to match the rest of the window chrome.

I've also noticed chrome strips that would go into the recessed areas on the roof and chrome wheel well trim. I'm thinking the wheel well trim to be a bit over the top, though.

Has anyone had any luck with mud guards?

I bought from seller billetanything.
I just noticed there are two sellers on e-bay. Billetanything specifically states he is the only one who sells these in 304 stainless. Although the other seller is a bit cheaper, I believe in this case you get what you pay for. Their Web Site (http://www.billetanything.com/) gives a fine description of their product.
I'm ordering now.

Will do, deejay. It'll probably take a week or so depending in the weather. I'm sure there are temperature restrictions when using double sided tape.

I just received the Pillar Posts this morning. Sunday's weather should be warm enough to do the install. Photos to follow. :)

Deejay, I'm sorry to say the temperatures this weekend never wormed up enough to apply the Pillar Posts. I understand it's best to apply the 3M Automotive Tapes when temps are above 60. We never passed the low 50's.

Maybe next weekend.

Between doing other odd jobs around the house, having the correct temperatures, no rain and having the energy, I finally got around to mounting the Chrome Pillar trim.

I'm a little disappointed. :(

The overall appearance is terrific, but I think the pieces could be a bit longer. I estimate almost a 1/4" gap. I though it would be best to locate the trim flush with the existing chrome trim at the top of the doors and leave the gap at the bottom. It may have been a better idea to center the trim.

I will post photos as soon as my camera batteries recharge. :o

Has anyone had any luck with mud guards?

I ordered some from CONQUESTAUTO.COM and my dad and I installed them right after I waxed the car for the first time. You have to drill a few holes and remove the rear wheels but it was easy enough. The parts were genuine GM and had detailed instructions and all the accessories needed.

The only thing I don't like about them is how they tend to move when I tightened the screws down. They were all lined up when the holes were drilled but when I put all the screws in and tightened them gaps would open up between the guard and the body. I loosened the screws and pushed them around as much as I could but there is still a tiny gap when I tighten the screws down.

I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else notices the same thing with theirs. I'm going to guess this is just the way they are because of the gaps and ridges that you have to butt the guard up to. We had them lined up perfectly with one person holding and another drilling so I don't know how it could have been done any better.

Only other tips for installing them that I can think of is use ramps on the front because the car is pretty low to the ground and it'd be hard to drill the bottom holes straight if you didn't use ramps.

Same here - what is the process to install? Do they snap over the stock posts?

I wish they did snap over the posts. That would make them easier to position. The chrome pieces are coated on both sides. The outside with a protective, peelable coating. The inside uses the 3M double-sided tape, which I have used before and like it. You only get one shot to place the pieces in the correct position. Once in place, they're stuck on for good. It's really not difficult. The pieces are bowed to match the contour of the posts.

They really look good, IMO.
