I have ignored this problem for a while now and I am finally ready to do something about it.

2009 Malibu ltz with the 6 cylinder.

The check engine light came on some time ago. Along with that, the remote start does not work anymore. I assume it's a fail safe for the check engine light. But my main problem is the hard starts after I fill up. After i get fuel, I will turn the key to crank the engine. If I release the key, the engine will continue to crank for a few seconds but will never start. If I hold the key in the crank position and pump the gas pedal, it will eventually start. But I feel like one of these days it just isn't going to start. The car will start and run fine the rest of the time. Only when I fuel up will I get this problem.

I am sure that getting the check engine light read will probably tell me what is wrong, but I always like to know a little about my problems before I take it into a mechanic so I don't get screwed.

    Thanks for any help/
