Dont be mad at me if I am wrong, I am only going off of the LX9 part. I am under the impression that since both of these cars say they have that, that it is the same motor. So here they are.
Found a firebird with a LX9, the same 3.5 motor in the Chevy malibu I presume. There are pictures showing the turbos on the car. It might be set up a bit differently but its the same motor non the less.

Correction, this was on the forum when I looked further at it
""Actaully I lied in the titel
Thsi is a 3.4 Camaro engine with an LX9 top end, 11.56:1 static compression, Clevite 77 bearings, ported, polished, LS6 valve springs and a cam that would knock your socks off with the duration.""
Sorry to disappoint with the Firebird. -__-
and here is a link to a person with a Pontiac Grand Prix that has the LX9 in it with a turbo on it. This is a video on Youtube and he has a few others showing work on his car.
And to those doubters about ever putting a turbo on a Malibu, I had just contacted Andys Auto Sport, which btw is a great website for anything auto. After asking them about a turbo kit for my car, this is what they replied.
With your Malibu we would use our Universal turbo system to fabricate
a remote mount turbo kit. Our universal kit comes with our STS remote
mount turbo, STS proprietary oiling system, Turbosmart wastegate and
blow-off valve, wiring harness, all the fittings to make the system
work and our complete instruction manual that will walk you through
different ways to install our kit. The universal kit does not come
with a tuning package and you will need to locate a dyno tuning shop
near you to help tune the vehicle. We also offer a universal pipe kit
that will have basic pipes, silicones and clamps to help you with the
fabrication. The single turbo universal kit starts at $1995.00 and the
twin turbo universal kit is $2995.00. We also offer additional system
upgrades such as ball bearing turbo, electronic boost controller, heat
shield, etc. Usually we see a 20-25 hp increase per pound of boost and
a 10-15% mpg increase. I think that our turbo system would work really
well on your Malibu and make a huge hp difference. The great thing
about our turbo system is that you are gaining performance and you are
keeping the drivability of the vehicle. I can write up an estimate at
any time and give you a full break down of the turbo kit. please let
me know if you have any questions and how I can help. Thank you.
popular optional components and upgrades include:
STS-Turbosmart Blow Off Valve $325

STS Turbo Pipe Kits from with silicone connectors and clamps $300
STS Turbocharger ball bearing upgrade $600
STS Turbocharger Compressor wheel upgrade $300

Let me know if you need any estimates or more information about the
universal kits. Sometimes they can be tricky to size out and get the
correct kit.
So with that email it made me a bit excited to see that there are some options to go for with my car. Hopefully soon I can post about how a turbo is working out on my car.
