Default Bluetooth and OnStar

I have an 09 1lt and i cannot get my phone to stay synced with the bluetooth feature after doing the pairing and all shows good I try to make a call and it goes to onstar.

I currently do not have on star activated is it necessary for onstar to be active for the bluetooth to work?

I dont think you need to have onstar activated...

1. if you initiate the call from the phone, what happens?
2. If you press the "voice" button on your steering wheel (more than 2 seconds), and say bluetooth and then "list devices", is your phone listed?
3. dont press the phone button on the mirror. thats onstar only.

Thread moved from General Discussion...

OnStar subscription not needed to use BT. I have had 2 cars with On* and BT. After the On* lapsed the BT still worked.

Bacon, when a initiate a call from my phone it goes thru the phone.
When I hold the talk button and say device it says my phone.
I don't use the mirror button.
Also after pairing the phone goes from connected to disconnected continuously

I have a 2012 nox that works just fine. Can you think of anything else that might be wrong other then a bad unit?

Thanks for your help

@gmorgan6, please, send me a private message with the VIN of your Malibu and what kind of cell phone you’re trying to pair.

You should have a dealer verify you have the latest update for the Onstar/bluetooth controller. On my 09 Aura, an update fixed the paired-phone dropping issue at every key-off.

You don't need an onstar subscription to use the bluetooth feature with your phone.

Ditto what Greenman said...My 09Lt2 had the same problem. It took the dealer a long time but somehow it finally works. There was a service bulletin about it.
