Despite our liking of the 09 Malibu my wife & I have one complaint.
The opening into the truck does not have enough of a "set in opening" for most picnic coolers or larger boxed parcels.
It's cool that the hinging doesn't intrude into the storage area, but it shouldn't be necessary to put large items on the back seat that would otherwise fit in the truck, provided the opening was larger.

A lot of folks have complained about the small opening for the trunk. But the styling sure is nice, eh?

I agree. It's amazing how much will fit inside (and I mean a LOT!), but the opening suggests that it's just a teeny little place.

I've always had a problem with the trunk. Put a couple boxes in and that's about it. As already stated forget about a cooler.

I can sometimes shoe horn my cooler in there. It's funny you posted this just yesterday I had taken the car seat and put it in the trunk to make room for extra people and had a hell of a time trying to get it back out.

Im happy to have a car with power windows so I never noticed that about the trunk.

I have no issues with the trunk. I'm about to fit the stroller in the opening.

Trunk opening size is minor, how about the ridiculous glare in the windshield off the light gray instrument binnacle ?
Had to pick up a dash cover in a dark color just so I could drive the car without polarized sunglasses in the daytime so I could see out the windshield.
Even back in the day before airbags and various other "safety devices" cars w/white interiors had black glare-free dashboards.
Test seating in a '13 last summer at the track confirmed same glare zone is current.
