hey folks,
i have a 2000 malibu, and it wont start.:confused::mad:

i have searched and searched on the web and forums, with no luck.
heres my problem. when ever it gets cold, for some reason the fuel pump wont get power. for the most part smacking the fuse box usually fixes it and it fires up.

now when it gets below freezing, it just wont get power. the gas gauge is also reading empty. now i know it has gas, just filled her up before this happened. it has a new battery so its not that. and when it warm up it will start again( happened last year) the fuse box is getting power, but the fuel relay isnt clicking on, already tryed a couple diffrent ones. no luck! took out the relay, and the one port is getting power but not the other.

i have no idea where to go from here......
fuel pump is good
ignition switch is good
anti theft is good and not preventing the car from starting
new battery
** weather depended if fuel pump works** :confused:
**no cel**
everything else works in the car with the key turned to on, but wont strart.

A relay that won't engage without a slap needs replaced.

If you have any moisture in the tank, it's heavier than gas and settles to the bottom where the pump intake is. If it freezes it can limit or prevent fuel from getting to the pump, resulting in your no-start condition. If it doesn't freeze you could get enough water when starting instead of gas, which won't start either.

You can try a fuel system drying fluid but that relay sounds like it's history.
