I notice in the owners manual for 2009 Malibu, some radios are shown with a USB port for IPOD. Is this standard on all or just deluxe sound? It looks like all have a connection for IPOD but not USB. Can anyone advise ?
thanks,
Terry
The standard is just the aux jack on the front even on the premium radio. With all the 2009's I looked at I never saw one with a USB on the front but it did intrigue me when I saw it in the manual.. It must be optional or special order im guessing
Yep. I believe the Cobalts already have the newer radios with the USB port, if anyone wants to see what they're like. Here's a link to a similar discussion at the GMInsideNews forums, with a (tiny) picture of the Cobalt's radio (similar to our 'bu's, except for the addition of a USB port):
Yes, the head unit with the USB port on the face has been a factory option on Cobalt's, HHR's, and G5's already since the start of 2009 production.
It is intended as a late intro option and/or GM accessory (basically, a new head unit with the port) for other GM vehicles before long, Malibu included. I haven't seen any kind of update yet regarding it in this way, but probably not too much longer before it's available one way or another for more vehicles.
