I have a 2013 Eco and I have a problem with a low pitch squeak/creak coming from what sounds like the trunk or the back seat somewhere. It comes and goes and it seems to make the noise even on smooth pavement. Has anyone encountered this? Any obvious things I should look for before I make a trip to the Service dept?
@jgonzalez3037, welcome to the forum. This is the first that I remember reading about a concern such as yours. You are on the correct track to get the vehicle into the dealership. I'm sure there will be other 2013 Eco owner's that will chime in to try to assist you with this.
I own a 2013 LTZ and although i cant say i have any squeak noise from the back i do have a slight rattle coming from what seems like the steering column.
I only notice it mostly when im on a bit of rough road but its loud enough to hear over the radio on like 6. I just cant believe there are even these noises from urs and mine i had an 08 model and never heard a rattle over the 5 years i owned it.
The only noise I heard out of mine is from the sun glass storage case. It seems that part of it rattles a little in certain conditions. I have tried adding some felt pads to it to stop it from moving and making the noise. It seems better now but not 100% perfect.
@DarkMali08, I'm very sorry to read you're not thoroughly happy with your 2013 Malibu. What help has the dealership provided to you about your concerns?
Taking mine in tomorrow, i will post what they find here. i still love my new Malibu, this doesn't scare me away from it or make me love it less. I am confident they will fix the problem, I will keep you posted.
Now that I think about it there was a sort of squeal noise in the car that I noticed the first day driving it. It quieted down some after getting a few more miles on it. I found out later that it was coming from the passenger seat area whenever my wife was in the car...

Any updates on this? I'm getting the same type of noise from my Eco with about 8500 miles on it.
I am also having an issue with my steering. At highway speeds the steering wheel seems to stick just slightly, it takes just a bit more effort than normal to make streering adjustments. I've never noticed it during city driving, just at highway speeds when your adjustments are much smaller.
