Has anyone had issues with their USB on the stock deck? My Ipod will not connect to the radio sometimes, and I have to cycle the engine to get it working and also cycle my Ipod. I have 2 Ipods, so I tried that one as well, and it does the same thing. It doesn't have that issue when I use the headphone jack. Any advice?

Also see if you can find your same issue by using the Search feature. I believe it may have been discussed on other threads and a solution found, but I could be mistaken. When you discover the solution please come back here and post what works. We'd all be grateful!

Tremain, have a look at the thread I started a while back http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/foru...ead.php?t=9015 . My connectivity issue occurs during very cold days. The post on the first page by EnvoyBu worked for me.

Yup. I still have to do that until now, but only when it's cold in the morning. It's really annoying, but then again, this car hasn't exactly been headache free...

I think I have figured out the cause of this. My ipod did this once. When you turn the car off or unpluge your ipod, your ipod is still on. If "on" for a long enough time without use, it will go dead. I think the "not connecting" for a few minutes is actually the headunit charging your ipod enough to where it will turn back on. Think about it, when your ipod is completely dead, (even cell phones) once you plug it into the wall charger, it wont let you turn in on for about a minute or two until the battery has enough power. Portable electronics are meant to work off the battery first and not off the charge from an outlet.

What you say is true based on the device being nearly or completely out of power. In my case the device is charged but it will not initially work with the usb port on a cold day, same for EnvoyBu and many others.... there is definitely some sort of issue which is triggered by very cold weather, at least in our case.

Interesting........ This will be our first winter with it so I guess I will find out.

Well I have asked around and still have not figured out why my IPOD sometimes will not connect. I would say its the cold weather, but my ipod still works on it own (I.E. turns on plays music with headphones.) So my next question would be is there something in the electronics that prevent usb devices from connecting. Its not a pressing issue, but I would like to figure it out.

I've experienced this myself on a couple brand new rental cars (though neither was GM). It's very frustrating. Sometimes it would connect & other times nada. Never have any problem recognizing it using any computer via USB so I can't help believing it's a head unit issue. If Apple made head units I'd pay any price for one.
Have you had a dealer verify the head unit is running the latest firmware?
