Anyone buy a spare tire?

I've had my Eco for several months now. My only major concern since delivery has been the lack of a spare tire. Has anyone out there purchased a spare tire/wheel for their 13'? Also, if you have, did it fit into the recess under the trunk? Related: will the compact spare from the gen 7 models fit the hub and/or trunk recess? Anyone who has purchased one, how much did you spend?

I called the nearest dealership and they said they couldn't get one. I told them about the ebay ad and the guy said it was a good deal and to go for it. It fits under the trunk mat perfectly....

Despite the fact that it comes with a jack, I'm surprised at how much a tiny spare costs. I'm going to have to mull over whether the peace of mind is worth $450....

The parts guy at my dealership priced the complete spare kit with jack and tool kit for right around $500. I will probably spring for it.

Does a Gen 7 spare tire and jack fit the Gen 8? If so, maybe go to a junk yard and look for one. Just a thought.

For a lot less than that I'd be buying a full size wheel and tire from the junkyard - $25 for alloy from the local pick-a-part...

Does a full size spare fit into the trunk of a '13 ECO without taking up much of the space? The ECO has less trunk space than a standard '13 Malibu I think.
