Default Factory Radio problems.

The radio in my 2011 Malibu LS has recently started switching from cd to aux input to radio on its own. If I hit a bump it switches, if I touch any button in the car it switches, but this only occurs when I am playing a cd. If I'm listening to the radio or have my mp3 plug in and in aux input mode it doesn't switch back and forward. What could be the problem that causes this to occur?

Probably a failure of the aux input jack. They are delicate. Requires replacing the head unit. If you're going to use that jack, I recommend permanently attaching an extension cable to it & let the extension take the wear & tear of plugging/unplugging.

If your mileage is still < 36k, have the dealer fix it under warranty.

Have you checked your CD's. Maybe they have scratches and the laser is skipping causing the radio to switch inputs.

@DLB, I can understand how annoying this must be for you.

I agree with michaelj3; if you’re under the 36,000 mile mark on your Malibu, under normal circumstances this would be covered under the Bumper To Bumper limited warranty.

Please, let me know how things are going with this.

It's probably the AUX jack. Apparently there is a plastic piece that is directly behind the face plate of the head unit. It apparently according to GM is not a widespread issue to issue a tech bulletin. The cord wears down the placement of the plastic piece and becomes loose causing it to do things on its own. I would do what greenman suggested and get the extension. I will have to get one for my USB and AUX inputs.
