Ugh, spent 8 hours at the dealership yesterday with my 2012 LTZ with a squeaking roof. Everytime the body torques (bumps, turns, etc) I get a squeaking sound in the roof. They tore the whole headliner apart and serviced the sun roof (track, cables, lube) and the squeak is still there. Brought it in at 8 am and at 4 they gave me a loaner. Supposed to call me back when complete today.
OK...got the car back yesterday and the FIXED IT! According to the service advisor, had nothing to do with the sunroof (although they did service that first). Apparently there are 2 pieces of metal that meet up in the I beam and they were welded just a little off. The one piece was just long enough that it would rub against the other everytime the body moved a bit. Anyhow...the noise is gone! Very nice to drive around without that intermittent squeak.
malibuinarlington,
While a bit late in the game, we're glad to hear that the squeak has been taken care of! Wishing you many happy, quiet miles!
