2012 Malibu headlights

I have a 2012 Chevy Malibu I recently had the right side headlamp bulb replaced about 3 months ago just last week the opposite side went out but then it came back on now both of my head lamps are out. I checked the fuse and put a new one in but still nothing. Has anyone experienced this problem or I may have any idea what may be going on.

Re: 2012 Malibu headlights

To check, service, or replace the headlight bulbs or any of the other bulbs in the housings you'll first have to pull the bumper off. You may want to consider having a new pair of halogen H11 bulbs (low beam) handy as well as the turn signal bulbs and side markers. Might as well do 'em all while in there.

Some of the issue could be an improperly installed bulb. If it is touched by human skin then it is very likely to burn out really fast. If that's the case then take it back and have them cover the work or just bite the bullet and do it yourself. Taking the bumper off takes time but isn't really hard, just time-consuming. And a well-documented frustration with us owners!

Take out both fuses (1 for each low beam bulb) and test them out of the fuse box. Replace them if not certain.

Remove the low beam relay and swap it for the high beam relay to see if the problem persists and/or moves to the high beams.

Look for burnt or damaged connectors and pinched or severed wires, poor grounds, etc.
