lowering within reason gives better handling as well as looking good! most cars can be dropped an inch without issues but more can create alignment issues which hopefully you got.
I lowered my Malibu with the 2.0L Malibu Suspension Lowering Kit from GM. I have attached an image showing my grey car (lowered) and the red dealer car (stock height).
I wanted a more aggressive stance but I really wanted the car to handle better. When cornering at speed in slippery conditions, the back end felt (to me) very light and like it wanted to come around. Not anymore. The back end now feels like it sits down in the corners. Handles WAY WAY better.
I will let you decide if it looks lower but here are the ride heights of each year (measured from underside of fender to ground)
I lowered my Gen7 a couple years ago. Except for getting in and out being a bit more difficult, I really like how it handles better, plus the looks are better with a more even gap between wheel arch and the tires. I like yours (except for the wheels... ).
Looks great! I had a 15 Malibu, just traded it for an 18. (see pic)
I want to lower this one ASAP, I'll check that brand out.
Any suggestions/advice on powder coating the wheels matte black?
GM lowering springs installed. I'm going to wait for the new springs to settle to see how much lower the car actually sits. Car does feel tighter (in a good way), turns in much better and holds a line with ease.
I am not happy with the visual results of the GM spring install. I have, with some difficulty, found a source for a set of Storm springs and have ordered them.
It's with a company that sells Storm springs but specializes in parts/accessories for completely different make/models of vehicles I've dealt with in the past. I'll shoot them an email asking if it's OK to share the source.
I was told by them last week that they are not importing anything from South Korea this year. They may start again sometime in 2019. This was the place in Arizona associated with them.
