well, I'm new here and new to owning a Malibu. I bought an 01 Malibu w/ 75k miles for next to nothing. It's been sitting for a couple years due to a tranny issue. When I looked at it, the engine wiring harness was chewed up pretty good. I got the whole engine wiring harness shipped to me today and I just saw that it goes through the firewall and connects to a computer inside the cabin. Has anyone tried this before? Just wondering what kind of nightmare I'm in for. Thanks

its pretty easy, but I have been mechanic for almost 40 years. but better than most to do, only hard part is remembering exact routing of wires around the coil pack area so everything reaches again, you know between the vacuum lines and spark plug wires and pcv and brake booster hose, but its easy and direct plug in by foot pedal area where the pcm is

I think I am having the same problem but the guy who I bought a 2001 malibu from said it was a bcm issue but I got that replaced (charged me 156 for labor hour and a half which was a rip off) then they told me it was a wire harness issue and only they can do it and it will cost another hour of labor. How can I check that it actually is that problem can you make a youtube video to show me where to check?
