Hey guys, thought I would ask here since most of you guys are very knowledgeable in this area. My parents car had the front bumper messed up in an accident so I was going to replace it for them. Its a 2005 chevy mailbu maxx in black and I just need the front bumper. Another part that got messed up was the side fender but I dont know how to replace a metal fender. Anyone know where I can get a bumper for a cheap price? also is there a diy on replacing the front bumper with parts needed around here? thanks guys

There's a whole bunch of fastners including push-ins, wing nuts, bolts, and screws that have to be removed. Are you sure you want to do this? What you're seeing is the bumper cover. There're often damages underneath that need to be fixed as well.

I thought I would give it a try. The damage is only in the side by the fender so under the bumper everything is good, I think the air filter part might need to be replaced too. Thanks for the diagram. How do you remove the bolts on the sides of the fenders in the wheel well? Do you remove them under the wheel well or do you take off the lights to expose them from the top?

It looks like the headlamps have to come out and the wheelhouse splash shield as well. I was asking because if you're asking for a how-to, you could end up putting your parents in an unsafe vehicle at the end.

thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. Ive done alot of work to my car, like replacing shocks etc, so Im not concerned I will leave it unsafe by replacing the bumper cover.

welding involved to replace the bumper cover only? are you sure. On the diagram it only shows bolts etc. Ive never heard of having to weld to replace a bumper. im not replacing the bumper impact bar underneath which might involve welding, only the bumper cover. I didnt see anything on replacing the bumper only on the link you provided, only the bumper impact bar underneath the bumper
