Hey everyone. new to the forum and looking for some help. I have a 08LT2 and i want to put a CAI on it. I searched through the forums and found a bunch of threads talking about how nobody has a CAI for the new bu's. I also read that a 2.4L cobalt CAI could work... Does anyone know if it actually does? and if it does are there any problems with sensors or anything that happen or is the bolt on cobalt CAI good?

Also, i want to lower my cobalt. I also looked through and found some threads but all of the places i have seen have lowering springs for the 6cyl malibu.... i have the 2.4L.

My last question is for HIDs. I know nothing about them and just want to know what HIDs fit best and how much of a pain it is to put them in.

If you guys can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I really dont know much about these but how do you know the connections will work? I cant find it anywhere that it is 2008 malibu compatible? Also, for the malibu, do we need the error eliminator, HID harness, and/or adapter cables?

I really have no clue.

Thanks for the help
Can anyone else claim that these are a good deal?

Doing a little more research.... what is the difference between the projector and the HID kits that are mentioned above? I am pretty sure the projector ones are those that you see in audi's and range's. How much of a difference is that to the HID kits?

Thanks guys

If you don't believe me here is this: http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/default.htm

With the help from Chevyguy8893 on this forum I had all the same questions as you. All you need is the HID Harness and if you do a search you will find that link (for the HID kit) on this site.

A projector is a different type of housing for the bulb. Basically keeps the beam in a nice non-scattered pattern with a cut-off line so other drivers aren't blinded as easily. The malibu headlight can be retrofitted with projectors, but it requires some work. Projectors with HID's are very nice to have. http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5248

HID's are just a different bulb type the produce more light at a lower wattage as compared to stock halogens at 55W. My HID kits are 35W and are plenty bright over stock. My headlights are 5000K color temp which is pure white and very bright. The DDM kits are plug and play. The hardest part is pulling the bumper off to install them. http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5555

The malibu's don't have any system that says a headlight is out, so an error code eliminator is not needed. As Chad stated the relay harness is all that is needed with the kit to provide direct battery power to the HID kit itself.

H&R springs makes lowering springs for the 2.4L malibu. They are listed on their company website. The springs for the V6 malibu will work, but they might not drop as much in the front since the 4 cyl is lighter.

It's no problem I understand. You might want to bookmark that site just in case you ever try to change the interior or exterior lighting of your car. I forgot the link and it is the site v-leds uses.

You can also see other Gen 7 Malibus with kit on them on cardomain, just check out that website and lookup Malibus from 2008-2011 and there are some first thing.

I just ordered sets of DDM 35w 6000k HID's for the Speed3 and Malibu. Should take 15 minutes in the one, and hours in the other LOL.

FYI, you can get the relay harness real cheap on eBay too.

I really can not get over how ridiculous it is that you have to take off the whole entire bumper just to replace two bulbs.

What about for the old lady that owns a Malibu and doesn't know how to take the bumper off? Then she'll have to take it to a dealership and pay hundreds to replace a cheap headlight bulb. Ridiculous.

Well honestly, the little old lady would do that anyway LOL. It is dumb, but there are many new cars that have to have the bumper come off. The Speed3 has bulb access right behind the clusters.

Thanks everyone for all the help. i am amped and i am ordering them tonight/tomorrow.

Last question though, what about the high beams? Is it worth putting the H9 replacements in there or would that be just too many little ballasts? Or is it just not worth it?

Let me know, but thank you all again. I am getting 35w 5000k (dont care for the blue)

HID's in the high beams are useless. They take a couple seconds to warm up and the beam would be too scattered for any benefit. Plus, the low beams add enough light output that the high beams become almost useless anyways. The only way HID's are good for high beams is in a projector housing. 5000K is very nice, I love it in my car.

Also, keep in mind when ordering, the raptor kit from ddm (cheaper kit) has much larger ballasts. There is not much room for fitting the larger ballasts. Also, the DRL fuse or relay needs to be pulled from the under hood fuse box. The relay harness is also good to have.

Ok. So i am finally ready to put in my headlights but i have a question about this comment that you have. I am sorry, i just dont really know what you mean. The DRL fuse is the driving light fuze correct? Why does this need to be pulled? Its not a big deal to me, just want to understand why.

Also, the relay harness note... are you referring to the relay harness that comes with the kit for the lights?

Thanks for the help guys. i appreciate it.

So i have one more question. I bought a lot of my parts from RockAuto.com (after my accidents with deer this year) and i saw that they have the LTZ fog light parts for cheap. Since the LTZ bumper is literally the same as the LS and LT bumper i am thinking of buying them and putting them on.

I know that the LT does not have the wiring harness for it but i was thinking to just run my own electrical for it. I would then run it off of the empty fuse for the fog lights.

Any thoughts on this? Also, RockAuto.com sells the factory switch and bulb connector/harness.

Now this is where i am stumped. On this website

http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/AutoLRG-Results.htm

it says that the driving lights and the fog lights are both H11 bulbs. Since i am putting 5000k 's in the driving lamps, i want the fogs to match.
http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W

Should i but a second 5000k HID kit for the fog lights then? If so do i even need the HID harness since i would be wiring it myself? And is it possible to run it through an empty fuse?
