Assuming you have the 2.4L 4cyl engine with electric power steering assist, your steering angle/position sensor has probably gone bad.
How many miles on the car?
There was a GM Bulletin on this to replace the necessary parts however it had limits on age and mileage, 10 years or 150,000 miles from date of original new delivery. So with a 2009 car, you won't qualify for warranty work.
This is what the sensor looks like;
There are a few really good videos on YouTube showing the repair however you do need to recalibrate the steering sensor once complete.
Took me about 4 hours to replace the sensor and then borrowed a SnapOn Zeus Diagnostic Tool to recalibrate.
