i have a 2.4L 2LT im thinking 18's or 20's anything else i dont think looks good. but my question is, to those of you guys that have 20's how is the ride? are you looking for potholes all the time? does it mess up the differential?

all opinions and thoughts will be helpful. thank you for your time.

I ran 20's on mine when I had it up to about 2 months before I traded it in when I sold the 20's and put the 18's back on. The 20's made the car, as far as looks. IMO they are just right for the car, anything else is too big. I got good performance tires which improved the handling a lot too. But they do wear quicker. While the 18's did ride a little better, the 20's offered better handling and better steering feel which the Malibu really needs. On most cars smaller wheels work better, but the Malibu has large wheel openings so it works. I say go 20's. Wheel size is all about the car. 20's look good on Malibus and 300's, horrible on smaller sporty cars IMO. Just remember the bigger the wheel the heavier the wheel. There is a reason why F1 cars only run 13" wheels. :D

I've even considered splitting the difference and thought about going to 19" wheels. I am interested in the TSW Nogaro wheel but as Silver LTZ stated in an earlier thread, tires would be more expensive.

20's definitely make the car. It goes from a family sedan to a pretty fly whip.

The tires for the 19's are pricey. I have a Crossfire with 18's in the front and 19's in the rear. Replacing the tires is not going to be fun for me :(

I was planning on gettinga set of 18's, but after this thread i think i may stick with my original plan and get 20's.

Thanks guys!

How much does a set of 4 go for?

I totally lucked out on my rims/tires. I have been looking and pondering getting 19's for a year now.

I picked up a set of 19" ASA AR7 rims with tires from a local Cobalt club member for $600 (set of 4 rims and tires)!!!! The rims are flawless and were only used one summer. He wanted to get rid of them because he was moving to 20's to make his car a show car. He paid $1900 for the set the year before.

The tires were the wrong size so, I swapped on 225/40/19's (cost me another $600 for 4 tires installed) and sold the 215/35/19 Dunlop Direzza's that were on the rims originally for $300.

In the end I got a set of 19" rims with tires for $900!!!!!

Still cold / slushy up here just outside Toronto, so it will be a couple of weeks before I get them on. I cannot wait.

As soon as I get them on, I will post pics

Just another opinion but...I think that the Nogaro has much too large openings between the spokes for the size of calipers we run on Malibus.
Go for mags with more spokes...(and paint the calipers black...not red...il shows their minimalist size too much)

Like I said higher in the post...just an opinion...don't want to start a war with the guys who like red calipers on Malibus.

Note...one wheel that looks really good on Malibus is the "NASCAR 614 wheel" in 18 OR 20...
