I'm going to attempt a LIM replacement and bought a Thexton engine tilting tool to get better access to the engine. It gets bolted in place of the torque strut/upper engine mount/dogbone. Simple enough, so where is it?

Welcome to the forum.:) The engine/transaxle assembly is secured by three transaxle mounts (front, back, and then driver side) plus an engine mount (see http://cid-54465800aad91b49.office.live.com/self.aspx/pub/93201g06L.gif). I don't think your tool will work with this setup. Instead, you can support the oil pan with a block of wood and a floor jack, unbolt the engine mount as shown, tilt the engine forward enough to line up a bolt hole, and then bolt it down in that position temporarily. Just be mindful that you'll be stressing the rear transaxle mount.

That may explain why I couldn't find it. How do people change spark plugs on this engine? I don't have fat hands and reaching the rear plugs was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.

Luckily you only have to do them once in a blue moon but, if you're unlucky, one of them will be seized on there good. It's part of the reason I gave up on V anything years ago. They were just dogs in the maintenance department.
