My mother has a 2001 malibu and it keeps stalling.
It will stall at random times and when you try to start it it takes a few times to start as if it is getting no power.
My dad put in a new fuel pump and wiring harness thinking it maybe wasn't getting any power from the pump but it continues to stall even at highway speeds.

I had a '97 Cavalier with the 4-cylinder engine. It would run once started, and usually started cold every time. But when warmed up it could take anywhere from 1 turn of the key (rare!) to 5 hours before it would start again.

Finally discovered that the crank sensor (underside between engine and firewall) was simply loose! I had already bought the replacement (fairly cheap) so I installed it and the problem went away. I believe that if I had just tightened it the issue would have been corrected as well. But after trying a coil pack and other expensive parts I was just happy to have it done!

Not sure if this will be the same, but it may help.

Sounds like a very good suspect. There are techs on here that can help you further if they come across this post. I believe you'll want to check your ignition switch. One thing to look at right away is the weight of your key ring. If it's heavy then it's acting like an impact wrench every time you go over a bump. Reducing the weight will help your ignition switch last longer. (This is good advice for anyone in any car.)
