My gauges/dash lights have been kind of crazy lately. While driving, all of them except for the Tach, Speedo, Odometer, and turn signals will "die." The check engine light isn't lit, but Service Vehicle soon, air bags, seat belt, parking brake are. Everything else electrical in the car is working fine, and it runs like a champ. In the past, the gauges all lit back up and worked properly after a while, but then would die again eventually. Since the last death of them, they have been off for 3 days now. I tried to replace the BCM, and the gauges would light up fine, but the car wouldn't start. I read that when replacing the BCM I have to let the passlock learn the new setup by leaving the car in the "on" position until the "theft system" light went solid, but even this did not help.
Can I fix the stock BCM, or is there a way to disable the theft system and still allow the new BCM to start the car? or am I lost without gauges for eternity?

as a side note, not sure if it matters: car has ~142,000 on the odo, gets ~31mpg highway fully loaded down (I travel about 33,000 miles/year) and is all stock other than a head unit and 2 amp stereo system.
:confused::confused::confused:

Any and all feedback is GREATLY appreciated.

Again, personal experience - check the back of the ignition switch, pushing it solidly onto the back of the lock cylinder (pull the radio to get to it).

This works best if the car is acting up for you when you try it.

Reviving an old thread, but it ended up being the BCM. Picked one up from a wrecked car in a junk yard, and it fixed the dash issue. Took some time to get past the Theft Lock issue, but all is well now!
Thank you!

My daughters car is doing the same thing.

Is there any programming that needs to be done to the new BCM. Mine is a 2003.

Has anybody ran into this issue and found that it ws just a loose wire or some other issue?
Thanks in advance.
