I'm not sure. If another member doesn't respond with an answer, you can always check with the dealership parts counter. They should be able to tell based on the VIN.

if your car has power door locks then chances are good that you should have 2 remotes with your car and if you really have any questions about it you can always take your VIN to the parts counter at the dealership and they can tell you if you should have remotes.

I'm assuming you bought the car used, easiest solution would be to contact the previous owners. If they don't have them it will cost at least a couple hundred to get some new ones and have a dealer program them, 2004 and up new Malibu's with power locks come with key fobs...

If all you want is remote entry (RKE) without a panic button or remote start, then an aftermarket product may be cheaper to buy and install.

And the nice thing about it is you can get the RKE kit, install it, then tap into the car's existing wiring to the lock actuators.

If you want the remote start feature then you'll have decide whether to get the factory fobs (if it's even available on your model), or get the aftermarket product along with a bypass module for the key. More money than RKE, but the one I had on 2 previous cars had a 2-way remote that reached 2 city blocks! (No kidding.) Another nice thing about 2-way remotes is you get a sound and/or visual signal that the command you just sent was accepted or not - no guessing! Those two features I really miss.

Check all your options before deciding, then pull the trigger.

There is a guy on ebay that sells used ones and they come with instructions to program them. Its easy to do if you have the instructions. There are others selling used ones. Try a google search. I bought a third one for my pick up as it saves the settings for each driver and can have up to 6 drivers. It was easy to program and works good. I think it was about $30.
