2005 Chevy Malibu LS - Cruise Control Set/Resume not working....

Ok Group, I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu LS - 3.5 V6 - with the Cruise Control Set/Resume Button not working.
The Cruise Control On/Off button LED does light up and is yellow. It also toggles on and off, so it appears to be working

The Brake lights - including the center high mounted light (aka "CHIMSL") are all working - which to me eliminates the root problem being the brake light switch.

Since the "Cruise" LED light is on in the steering wheel for Cruise Control - I doubt that its the cruise control Fuse, but checked it and it is also good (passenger side fuse block in the center console, Fuse 12, 2 Amp)

I'm thinking that it is the Set/Resume switch - but not sure.
Anyone have directions on how to replace the "Set/Resume switch - located on the RHS of the steering wheel?

Thanks for any help.

Check engine light on? Any codes stored? If check engine light is on cruise control will not engage.

The Gen7 uses an array of resistors for the steering wheel buttons that control the Cruise Control and the Driver Info Center. Yours may also, but not sure. If so, then they are all linked together so that if any resistor (or resistors) fail (either open, shorted, more resistance, or less resistance), then signal to the BCM will be affected.

It could also be an issue with the "clockspring" device that allows you to turn the steering wheel a dozen times and still have wired controls.

There is a recall on the BCM connector. I was having similar issues with my 2006. However, it wasn't consistent and I don't know if my brake lights were on as I was only driving during the day.

I too assumed brake switch, but took it in for shift cable recall and they fixed this as well.

The check engine light is on (the only code is for the sending unit on fuel pump), BUT - I can clear it going down the road, and try to engage cruise control - and it still doesn't engage.
