I have recently noticed the driver seat only coming up on one side so if I raise it only the left side comes up not the right and I don't have the money to replace the seat as everybody is telling me

Not sure I have a 2008 Malibu. Long time ago there was a recall something to do with the seats. Might want see if there was any recalls for yours.

There is a drive cable from the motor to the side that isn't moving, and that is likely the failure.

Junkyards are usually fairly inexpensive. If you can find your car, or an Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac, or Saturn with the right part, you just might be able to do the job with a pair of pliers and a little sweat equity.

Try a seat pad or two as used on kitchen chairs? I also use a seat cover over the pad(s) to keep them in place. Also makes the seat more comfortable on long trips.
