There is nothing that can be done that will net any noticeable gain in power on the 2.4L. The jet chip is no exception and is more a waste of money. If you search the forum you can find many topics along the same lines.

All I can think of is trade it in for the v6, get a shop to custom fabricate parts for it then tune it, or just enjoy your ride as it is.

Trade it in for a 3.6 V6 before they're gone. If you still want a 4-pot, I heard GM is completely revamping the LHU (2.0T) in the Regal to get around 250 HP in the normal Turbo variant.

If it's an 08, then that means it's a 4-speed automatic. Yeah, it's not going to win any races, but that should have been obvious immediately. The tested acceleration number is something like 9.5 seconds 0-60, which is certainly plodding along. Later models with the 6-speed are more than half a second faster just because of how the extra gear ratios allow the engine to stay in it's power band. Even if you were able to get a full cold air intake and exhaust (worth maybe 10 horsepower) without throwing codes, you probably wouldn't feel noticeable difference in acceleration.

Even a 1.4T Cruze is faster than that, maybe it's time for a trade-in?

That 1000lbs adds some fun to the car though. Redirect some of the sound pressure out the back of the car from those subs, it might help move the car faster:D.

If you really want more power. You could always attempt an engine swap, lol.

If I ever run out of gas THIS is what I am trying lol......I am going to configure some type of sail to attach to it and just push myself with pressure lololol

I have the 2.4L with the 6 speed tran.
I also wanted to know how to properly shift the gears such as what RPM to be in.
Also is it really pedal to the metal for a quick race against friends or is it timing of the shift?
Will it pull up the speeder in D or M?

The "manual-shift" function of the 6-speed will hinder you if you're trying to get good times in a race. Put it in D, mash the pedal, and maybe experiment with when to momentarily lift the pedal to coax the trans into shifting before it bumps the redline. Mine will bounce off the upper limit in 1st before it shifts into 2nd. This trans is by no means a performance trans but the best performance is D during a drag race-type event.

Downshifting will aid in braking on the road, but again, it is slow to shift so you have to shift early, whether it's up or down.

If you're in a road race-type of event you might benefit from using M but that's gonna be up to you, the driver.

I have always thought it would be interesting to drop a 2.0T engine out a Cobalt SS into the Malibu. Upgrade it with one of GM performance kits and you would have around 300hp. Would be an ultimate sleeper and probably run low 14's in the quartermile.

The only issue would be if you get the trans to handle the extra power, and I would think it wouldn't cost to much to do if you could find a wrecked Cobalt SS that had the engine and electronics intact.
